Hi Everyone! (I'm not going to comment on Mike's tights-issues & lack of shorts):rotfl: :lmao: .

OK, I'll stop spazzing (for now). How do I get my colors & corrals changed & stuff?? What, do I have to bring a dang finishers certificate from another marathon or sumpin? Is it going to be hot, Colleen? Please let me know what to pack when you get your crystal ball fixed:3dglasses .

:hippie:

Corrals are Different This Year.

Hi guys,

If what I've read on other threads is correct, the corrals are a little different for this year's marathon. No switching between Blue-Red at the start; All the Blue corrals will be off first, followed by the Reds.

Blue
Corral A: Bib #s 101-2,000
Corral B: #2001-4500
Corral C: #4501-7000 (I'm in this one)

Red
Corral D: 7001-9000
Corral E: 9001-11,000
Corral F: 11,001-13,000
Corral G: 13,001-15,500
Corral H: 15,5001-18,200

I can't verify the info., but it's from the guy who is usually pretty accuracte with all Disney race details.

Howdy Friends!

Thanks a bunch for bursting my tight-wearing bubble!

We had a discussion at the dinner table tonight. Kathy said she'd been reading the boards and it was pretty much unanimous that I should definitely wear shorts over the tights. SORRY! It's not like I was exposed or anything. Everything is contained and compressed and discreet:confused3 .

I guess there's no hiding natural talent!

Enough said on that topic...

Cindy - I didn't have the guts (or anything else due to my immasculating tights incident) to run outside this morning. That wind was nasty! I opted for 5 on the TM instead. Nice job.

So, do you have to speak German to play your new game or will drinking a nice German beer suffice?

Sara - DD7 was asking if your girls are running any races next weekend. She's jealous that they are going and she has to stay home. She was also asking if your leg is feeling any better.

Did your doctor visit put you on the road to recovery? I hope you are feeling better.

Jodi
- I also have to take proof of time to the expo. I'm just printing out the results page from Frederick since they didn't provide certificates. A number of people on the big thread said it's pretty painless.

Oh, and you're not supposed to know, but all the WISHers are really wearing trash bags over their neon shirts in the corrals so that you can't find them!

Hey! to everyone else.

Theta - Great job on the 20-miler.

Sara - Get those ears fixed. You definitely want that clear up before flying.

Jodi - I'm wondering how I would find any of you guys as well. I don't have a WISH shirt but I will be wearing a white shirt with "LOU" on the front and "26.2 Mile to Beer" and a mug on back...it's a Christmas gift.

Cindy - I'll let you know how Yak & yeti is. Jamaica sounds nice..especially when it's 20 degrees outside.

Jodi - I'll probably see you at the portapotties.

Steve - thanks for the info on the corrals. I take it once we get out of the Epcot area everyone starts to settle into their own packs anyway.

Mike - Good luck with those tights.

I'm in full taper mode. I'll do 5 on the TM tonight because I have a meeting this morning.

I get into MCO around 9:30PM Friday. I'll try to go to one of the WISH functions before or after the race. Let me know where you guys plan to hang out.

Duhoh! Sorry, I had a senior moment in my previous post. :crazy2: I meant that the successive bib numbers do not alternate between Blue/Red as in previous years; not that all the Blue corral runners start first, then Red corrals.

4 miles, 22 degrees, 10 degree wind chill. By far the coldest weather I've ever run in. Actually, I was surprised that it didn't seem too bad. Other than my nose constantly running. I'm getting pretty good at snot rockets - its very attractive.

Thank you for the graphic visual now in my head :scared:

22 degrees and a windchill? Great effort. I'd be on the treadmill (watching a movie, of course.)

OK, so I'm stuck in the blue section, corral D, maybe I'll see you guys out there somewhere (that's IF you take your trashbags off so I can spot you easily:banana: ). Will bringing my proof of time change where I am placed at all? I'm sure I'll find Mike & his tights by following the sound of thuds as people hit the ground when he runs by:lmao: . I think it's a good thing the kids are sittin' this one out, there, Skippy. It'll be all Kathy can do to deflect the sympathetic head shaking & stares she'll be at the receiving end of.

Cindy - Where do you find your motivation to run in this weather when there's no race in your immediate future?:confused3 Oh yeh, it's called dedication:rotfl: . NICE JOB!! When we finally meet we'll have to have a snot rocket shoot off!! I can get some serious hang time from my nose nuggets!

Going to the gym to CT on some stupid machine today.

Will bringing my proof of time change where I am placed at all?

Jodi, listen to what I am saying...bring your finish time certificate or a copy of it to Expo, ask where you can get your corral changed and they will put a little sticker on your bib putting you up in a higher corral. If Steve's intel is correct, most of us are on the Blue start, corral C, the corrals are huge, so we can walk down together and you and Sara can start together.

Dave did this last year and he was moved up 2 or 3 corrals.

:thumbsup2 O'TAY 'PANKY!! (sorry, been watching Little Rascals DVD w/ my son). Thanks ColleenThetaMomma. This will be the end of discussion for my corral placement - thanks to everyone for all of your input...PHEW:lmao:

This is true... it was so easy to do. I just printed out my results from the one half marathon I had run, and at the Expo they moved me from the last corral into C where everyone else was. Very, very easy, and no questions asked.

Hi All - oooh, you're all getting excited for the WDW marathon. I had a good race on Tuesday. I ran 7.5 miles in 1:03 min/8:23 mpm. However, I think I hurt my hip. I've been having a little twinge in it lately, and it's been irritated since my run on Tuesday. It actually doesn't bother me when I'm walking or running, but more so when I get up from sitting.

Yesterday I used the exercise bike and did lots of stretching.

Hey, they posted pictures of the race from Jan 1st.

Here's the start

Here's me finishing - I'm on the right in the red hat (the new hat my DD's got me for Christmas). It was really a nice day to run. I even got warm enough to take my gloves off.

Turns out the fellow that finished right beside me lives in my neighborhood, and also has boys the same age as my girls. Our kids all ride the schoolbus together. We chatted for a long while after the race.

Dave - Absolutely LOVE the pics! Look @ you all fast & all:thumbsup2 . We may never be able to run together again if you keep this up!:lmao: Congratulations on an awesome run, dude!

Hi, I checked the website and the Philadelphia Marathon page needs to be completely updated with the 2008 race information. Most of the information reflects 2007 information which states that registration is CLOSED.

I sent an email to Active.com to ask when registration will begin yesterday. I haven't heard anything back just yet. Does anyone know when online registration (or otherwise) will begin?

:grouphug:

Howard

Howard - I e-mailed someone listed on the Philadelphia Marathon website to get confirmation of the 2008 date. I can do the same for the registration if you'd like.

Dave - Awesome pics:thumbsup2 Don't worry, I will keep my present speed to keep Jodi company:rotfl2:

Jodi - Glad your confident it'll be a breeze to change the corral:rolleyes1 I knew EVENTUALLY you'd have to comment on Mike's tights:rotfl:

Mike - I'm not busting you on the tights:hug:. I just appreciate the good laugh. The leg is better but not fully resolved. My kids have done the races in the past but have no interest this year. Just tell your DD that I am incapable of banging out 26.2 without my DD's there for inspiration. Truly, it is hard for me to put out the effort without the reward for seeing my kids at numerous points on the course. I live for that:love: . They are my heart and soul and it is kind of pointless to me unless they can share it with me:lovestruc . Okay, before you accuse me of the Hallmark moment...

Cindy - You ROCK girl:woohoo: !! No way would I run outside in this weather:eek: . I hope your training goes well for your 1/2:banana: .

Lou - We'll be easy to spot before the marathon. I can't wait to see you real soon:cheer2:

Steve - What exactly is your weather like today? I need to get out of NY ASAP if the temps don't moderate or I just need to get some more insulation;)

I didn't get into the Doc until this a.m. and she gave me a steroidal nasal spray to clear up my sinuses since she believes that is why my ears are so filled with fluid and won't drain. Whatever works:mad: On a good note, my running has felt surprisingly great lately which I attribute to working on my Chi. Mike/Kathy have you been reading the book yetpopcorn:: ?

Happy final tapering weekend:cheer2:

This morning at 8:00 AM it was 3 degrees. Can you say "treadmill?" I am literally going to arrive in Florida next week with my running shoes not having touched asphalt since December 14th. I emailed the Disney race director about replacing the entire marathon course with a treadmill deck material (TVs included); I have heard no reply :confused3

Sorry for not hanging around much. DD had a Showcase Soccer tournament in South Florida between Christmas and New Years. I was the designated Chaperone, as Tracy had to work.

Howard
Welcome to the MCM/Philly/? thread. I'm glad that another wisher is coming along. Anyone else want to join in?

Steve
I have also finshed all my double digit runs. Everything feels great and I think I'm ready to go.

Colleen
This will be DS's first Full and his second Half. His training has been almost non-existitant. I have no doubt that he will finish, but he is going to pay the price when it comes to recovery. Luckily he doesn't have classes until Tuesday morning.

Mike
I don't see what the problem with going comando in tights is about, unless they are sheer and white. As long as they don't have ruffles on the butt...

Dave
20 miles a week sounds like a good maintenance plan. After WDW, I'm planning on 20 -25 miles per week running T W Th Sa Su. I'll be think of you while going Goofy.

Jodi
I will be throwing armloads of stuff into the motorhome Thursday morning. I'll sort it out after I get there and will probably have to make an "I forgot" call to Tracy, who will be heading over on Friday. Oh yeah, that reminds me, don't forget the dogs and their dog food.

Last year, a group of us wishers met at the "W" family meeting tent before going through the baggage tent and into the port-o-let area. It's an easy spot to find.

Sara
I hope the sinuses/ears are clearing. I'm glad your running has been feeling great. It's been the same for me. I'm really looking forward to this.

Cindy
And I thought yesterdays run in 40 degrees was tough. I was bundled up in two shirts and a pair of tights. Mike would have been proud. Maybe not. I think I need some snot rocket firing lessons. Which way do you aim when it's windy?

Lou
I'll be at the "W" family meeting tent area prior to going through the baggage tents for both races. I'll probably have something lime green on, but not likely a W.I.S.H. shirt. Just look for a guy that looks like my avatar, but with tights on if it's below 40.

Happy final tapering to WDWers and warm thoughts to those that won't be there,

Chester

The Philadelphia Marathon (Official Website) lists the date as November 23, 2008. Other than that, the information up on the website is for last year's race.

I have already emailed Active.com and will post something if (and when) I hear back from someone about registration. I know it's early, but it sould out last year and I want to get in early.

Chester - Thanks for the welcome to the thread. I am looking forward to running this one with my WISH friends.

I had a good race on Tuesday. I ran 7.5 miles in 1:03 min/8:23 mpm.

Dave: Great job on the race and nice pace! Was it cold? Here in Maine I do the Mid-Winter 10-miler every 1st weekend in February; some years: T-shirts and shorts; other years: 2 sets of tights, 4 layers on top with hat and face mask!

Sorry I won't get to meet you next week (Unless you have had a change of heart). Are you definitely in for Philly 2008? As for DDs sleepover party, I have a 9-year old DD: I feel your pain, man. :sad2: I'm sorry, did I say pain? I meant that: "I share the joy that you shall feel when your cherished progeny decide to gather their wonderful social circle and share them with family within the comforts of your home." ;)

Take care.
