Rough crowd. Is my face bleeding, or what??? Man I'm takin' a thrashing today. And look who's talking, Colleen. Canadian-farm grown all the way!

Thank you, I am taking that as a compliment!::yes::

I am good enough, smart enough and dog gone it, people like me!:) :lovestruc

I commence tomorrow morning! :cool1: :rotfl: :yay: :dance3: :woohoo:

I worked out at the YMCA the other day and ran 3 on the TM and biked 3.5 miles. It pretty much sucked. I ended up injuring/hurting the arch on my left foot. :headache: This is a new one for me, I've never had an issue with it before this week. I actually know what my arch feels like when it is in pain now. I walked around with the tender arch for a few days and did not further exercise except for an 18 hole round of golf yesterday. The arch was sore all during the round yesterday. :(

It was still tender today but I said, what the H-E-Double Toothpicks and ran in my old running shoes. The newer Saucony Hurricanes allowed the injury to happen so I bagged them for the run today just in case. (I think it was the pounding on the TM - not the shoes, but I digress)

So, I laced on my trusty Asics, took two Aleve and went out and ran 5 miles in 56:47 (11:21 pace) this afternoon. I am glad I made the effort because my arch was fine throughout the run and it is still good tonight.

Happy training!

Enjoy your weekend!!!!!

Howard

Howard Happy Commencement:banana: :worship: and a whole bunch of :wizard: for the arch pain. Nice job on the run and glad the arch didn't act up.

Jodi - For the record, I don't think asking about an organic section at Publix is the same as asking for organic snack options in the park:laughing: . The former is definitely more mainstream:rotfl: . DO they have an organics sections at Publixpopcorn:: ? I know I've searched for a Whole Foods or a Trader Joe's near WDW and haven't had much luck.

Dave - Free trade pineapple:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Have a wonderful weekend everyone:yay:

Good morning folks,

Congratulations Howard and your special day!! :dance3: :dance3: What a great accomplishment!!

Cindy, thinking about you this weekend!:goodvibes

I heard DH rummaging around this morning around 5:30 and the squeak of running shoes on the hardwood floor. I asked him how far he was going to run this morning, he said, oh about 13.1 miles! Huh?!? We have a small town half marathon here this morning and he got out of bed this morning and decided to run it!:rotfl: I just rolled over and went back to sleep for another hour.:thumbsup2

Forgot to mention, I got 2 spin classes in this week and apart from a little soreness in my hipflexor, my knee felt OK.::yes::

Have a great weekend everyone!

I commence tomorrow morning! :cool1: :rotfl: :yay: :dance3: :woohoo:

It was still tender today but I said, what the H-E-Double Toothpicks...
Howard - Congratulations!! I hope you enjoyed the well earned honors.

Secondly, watch the language! You don't want to offend Jodi's delicate sensibilities.

ThetaGammaChi - How did DH's race go? Not to be sticking my nose in or anything, but...Shouldn't you have been training for and participating in that race!?!

Cindy - Good Luck!! (in case you're checking in).

No running for me for the last few days. Schedules have been way too crazy and it just hasn't worked out. Let's hope next week will be better.

Howard - :worship: :worship: CONGRATS!! And yes, please, easy on the language :rotfl: .

Cindy - :hyper:  :woohoo: :yay: Go Cath, Go Cathy, Go Cathy!! :woohoo:

HI To Everyone Else!! I'll check in later!!!

Whoa...I guess it's been a few days since I stopped by. Looks like I missed alot. I'll try to catch up but things have been pretty hectic. Case in point...I am working all day today (Sunday).

Cindy - I'm sitting here eating a grilled cheese sandwich realizing that you are running around beautiful San Diego right now. You're probably in Mission Bay right now. I just checked online and they have you down for a 1:00:41 10K (9:46 pace). Way to go!! I'll check out your times throughout the day.

Sara - I saw the posts about your knee. Man, you sound like an NFL running back with all of the knee ailments. Sounds painful. Hopefully the pain goes away soon and you can get the PT you need to get back on the comeback trail. I like the pool guy story.

Dave - Glad you had a fun time at Wicked.

Jodi - I like the trip idea. I've always wanted to drive cross country and I like the idea of driving out and flying home.

Howard - CONGRATS on getting though your MBA program!

Colleen - Nice job on the spin classes. You should have got out there with DH and ran the 1/2. However, sleeping in probably felt better.

Hey Steve!

This week was pretty crazy as I am in crunch time with buying this company. No need to bore everyone with details but a lot is happening. Some days the world feels real heavy but I'll never complain abount being busy. I did get to spend Thursday in A.C. at a transportation conference. Hanging out with a bunch of engineers was lame but it was a nice diversion.

Got in 5 miles on Monday and 5 again on Friday. Got in 9 miles yesterday. I'm working today but will try to squeeze in a quick bike ride at some point.

Have a nice Sunday!

Lou

Cindy - :hyper:  :woohoo: :yay: Go Cath, Go Cathy, Go Cathy!! :woohoo: !!!

:rotfl:

Mike, Dh did alright, I think he said he pulled together a 1:52 half. He wears a heartrate monitor and he said at mile 4 it jumped to 170, so he and his buddy slowed down a bit but his heart rate was still hight at 166, so he let his friend run ahead and his buddy finished 1:44 ish. I think they were shooting for under 1:45. He did say he saw a WISH shirt there! I think it was Wendy collecting her 14567 medal. Go WENDY!!:yay: I wish I would have know she was coming and I would have cheered her on. As for me running, ah, no cartilage = no running

Congrats Cindy!

I tracked your progress throughout the day as I was sitting here working. It was kind of neat to track your race. I'm assuming the other person from Arlington VA with the same last name was your DH.

I can't wait to here the race report as San Diego must have been incredible!

Lou

Candy, congratulations on your marathon finish!:cool1:

Can't wait to read the race report after you recover from that flight from the west coast!

Quick post. Sitting in hotel business center before heading to airport.

Well, I did not have a good race yesterday. I'm disappointed, but I'm ok about it. There will be other races. Yesterday just wasn't my day. I was on pace for under 4:30 until around 19 miles. Then I fell apart. I finished in 4:50:xx, so it's around a 6 minute PR - Guess I should be happy about that. But I lost over 20 minutes of time on the last 7 miles. . .

I'm still trying to understand exactly what went wrong so that I can learn from it. I was really feeling great for the first 16 or 17 miles. I was running a little faster than a 4:30 pace, but I didn't feel like I was running too fast (and I still really don't). My split for the half was 2:10:xx. I was really happy - I really thought I was going to be able to get under 4:30. Then somewhere around 16 or 17 miles I started to feel terrible. Its hard to explain exactly how I felt, but I was kind of dizzy and sort of nauseous. Starting at around mile 19, I ran until I felt like I had to stop or I was going to pass out or something. The I would walk until I felt better. Of course starting running after walking that far into a marathon is never easy . . .

I think I may have been dehydrated. I didn't drink as much as I normally would at the early water stops because I had to pee, but the port-o-pottie lines were too long. At around mile 22 I actually went into a port-o-pottie for a few minutes to see if I still needed to pee and that was what was wrong. It wasn't. When the sun came out around 10, it was really hot and also humid. Apparently the humidity was in the 80s - not typical for San Diego.

I felt 100 times worse after this race than after MCM. I also thought this race was 100 times harder for me. I'm better today, but still much more sore than after MCM. I also am really sun-burned (even though i used lots of sweat-proof sun screen - Guess I sweated too much for it). And I have HORRIBLE chaffing on my back from my sports bra, which has NEVER happened before. Basically - I'm a mess.

I'll write more later, but we have to run to the airport now.

Cindy - :wizard: Travel safe and sorry you're feeling like such a mess right now. Take some time to rest and please let us know once you're home safely. Congrats on the PR :yay: even though it felt real tough for you and the weather conditions were not the greatest.

Cathy - Don't worry about the rough race...i hope you feel better!! I'll over-analyze your race at a later date, ;) . for now, just get home safe & chalk it up as another 26.2 under your belt. CONGRATULATIONS!!

...Shouldn't you have been training for and participating in that race!?!
:As for me running, ah, no cartilage = no running
Colleen - I don't think I specified the mode of movement

Cindy - Let me add my "atta' girl!" on finishing and a PR when you were feeling so bad. Be proud of those accomplishments and don't worry about the rest. I hope you're feeling better now.

Just got back from San Diego. Now am eating dinner and packing for my 7 am flight tomorrow morning to Kansas City. I'm still sore but am feeling better. Although the sun burn on the back of my legs is really, really painful.

Jodi - Matt and I just got the emails today that we got into the NYC Half - did you?

I'm not bringing a computer with me, so I probably won't be back on here until Thursday.

Cindy - Travel safe and :wizard: for the legs. Glad you're feeling better otherwise. Lots of fluids girl!

Jodi - Are you in for NYC 1/2popcorn:: ?! I did book a room and a car for WDW '09 weekend so even if I don't run the full there's a good chance I'll go as a scream teamer:yay: either solo or with DH and the chicks:woohoo: !!

I'm heading out to walk but I hope y'all are doing well:hug: . Tomorrow is my last day of steroids and then I start the Naprosyn. I have to say, the leg does seem improved so I think with a little time and patience I may pull through this thing after all. I am still hoping for PT to improve my chances of running as long as I can without totally destroying my knee.

Good Morning Philly Teammates: Yesterday I only ran 3 miles, but I'm trying to run 5x this week up from my usual 4x. I've been wanting to build back up to running 5x/week like I was before I hurt my hip. My 3 miles was "speedwork" on the high school track. It was a gorgeous afternoon. DD7 pooh: and I biked to the high school, and I did 3x 800m repeats at ~7 mpm pace. I know it doesn't sound like much, but it's a start for me. All and all, it was 3 miles in 23:44 min for 7:54 mpm.

Howard- Congratulations on your commencement. You really earned it! WTG! :thumbsup2

Colleen- Glad your knee is starting to feel better. Those spin classes are killer. What 1/2 did your DH run? Was it the Rock n' Roll?

Lou- Good luck with the business dealings. Wow, buying a company sounds so hard core. It's such a different concept for me being in the academic world.

Cindy- Congratulations on your Rock and Roll Marathon finish! We're all so proud of you. I bet that 6 min PR will feel better in a couple days. Plus you always have Philly to shoot for your next PR. It sounds like it was a really tough race for you at the end. It does sound like you got dehydrated at the end there. I hope you're feeling a little better now. Good luck with your reverse taper and recovery! For the sunburn... "it rubs the lotion on it's skin."

Hi Jodi- How are you feeling? How's the ankle? When's the NYC 1/2?

Hi Sara- How was your walk? I'm so glad to hear you are almost done with steroids, and that your leg is feeling better. YAHOO!!! You're just in time for the Lake Placid 1/2M. Seriously, I hope you find a good PT so you can continue running again without causing additional damage.

Hi Guys!

Just a quick drive-by for now. YES, I did get into the NYC 1/2 & am sooooo psyched!!:yay:

Cindy - SUNBURN??? YIPES! Sounds like dehydration was the definite culprit here.

ok, more later! So happy everyone's feeling good & getting out there!

Oh Jodi...
