To all the Broadway fans, last night Phantom of the Opera became the longest running show on Broadway. Cats (Andrew Lloyd Webbers other production) had this title until last night. I've seen Phantom 3 times but never with Michael Crawford (original Phantom) but really wish I had seen him in it. Only got to see him in EFX in Vegas and Dance of the Vampires on Broadway.

I just saw the movie version. And although it brought back fond Phantom memories, it did not compare to the Broadway version. I remember seeing the show when I was a Senior in High School back in April of 1989! I was lucky enough to see Michael Crawford at the Phantom. And lucky enough to see Sarah Brightman's understudy! ;)

Congratulations to the Phantom. "It was better than Cat's, I'm going to see it again and again!". Hehehehe!

I love Phantom it is my favorite broadway musical. I have never seen it on broadway though, hopefully someday. I will be seeing it this spring when the tour hits Dallas :teeth:

The movie was bad bad BAD. The show is excellent. I'm happy to see it unseat Cats; I've never really understood the appeal of that show.

I love the music from Phantom. I think Les Miserables is the better play though...is that still playing in NYC?? They are both no longer playing in Toronto.

Unfortunately no. Les Miserables stopped playing in NYC about a couple of years ago. But way to go Phantom!! :worship: I absolutely LOVE that show. I've seen it 3 times! :teeth:

I beg to differ. I loved the movie. So what if Gerry Butler could not sing he is much better looking than Crawford.
