My brother would like to bring his cat to the Portofino. I read on the hotels website that you need a health certificate from a vet to give at check-in.

Has anyone ever heard of or done this?

Also, I already booked the room a bay view room. Do I need to change it to a pet friendly room or will they just handle this at check-in.

Thanks

We took our dog with us every time we went to Portofino and/or Royal Pacific and had upgraded rooms at PBH every time. However, you do need to let them know there will be a pet traveling with you and you will be needing a pet-friendly room.

In regards to the health certificate, all we did was obtaining copies of paperwork, showing vaccination records. Health Certificates (as far as I understand – please correct me if I am wrong) is something one may need if traveling to a different state. Our vet could not understand why we are requesting it to go to Orlando, especially becuase it actually costs money to obtain one. I called the resort back and was advised that a letter on vet’s stationary, stating that the animal is in good health, and copies of vaccination is sufficient. Hope this helps!

Both resorts were very helpful with all of our “pet needs”.

I think the dog papers they are looking for are for bordatello like you would need for any kennel. They didn't require these during the hurricanes.
