Pets at the Hard Rock Hotel

My son is scared of dogs. We are going to the Hard Rock in February and I would like feedback from recent visitors as to whether they saw any dogs and were they always controlled, on leashes, etc... I spoke to the hotel and they said there are usually on 3-5 dogs staying at the hotel at any given time. Thanks. Jamie

We were at RPH Dec 10-15 and there were six dogs on our floor. They were always on leash when we saw them. They were not barking at night but you could hear them during the day once one dog started up!

Really not an issue. The dogs were all quite small and not intimidating. I do believe there is a size limit.

Perhaps you could ask guest services to put you on a floor without any dogs since your child is afraid of dogs.

I agree with damo. Loews hotels allot specific rooms as "pet rooms", partly to avoid putting people with pet allergies in rooms that have been occupied by pets.

So it should be a fairly straightforward matter for the hotel to place you out of dog range.

Excuse my stupidy here, but why would someone take their dog on vacation to a theme park? Isn't that a bit ridiculous I know alot of people might be driving cross country or are on a long vacation, and then I could say ok yeah bring them. Those people usually have RV's and stuff. I am not a critic nor a judge of character, it's also not my job to say how people should live or act, but dogs on vacation is too weird for me.

I think it was in May, a man walked his dog to the ticket booth area, and tried to walk his dog into the park. The lady asked him if he required a seeing eye dog, he said no. She said then you will need to take your dog to the kennel or leave because dogs are not allowed in the park unless you require them. He then started to get upset, and said Disney and Sea World allowed me to wonder the park with him. She turned and said I don't work their and I don't know their policies but I am sure their rules on pets are the same as ours. Then he starting getting mad, are you calling me a liar you @*$#! well security was then called (Consider they were 2 feet away) then a guy in a suit I assumed some sort of Manager or Park Supervisor came and they pulled the man to the side, and the ticket opened back and I walked in.

I really wanted to see how that all went down, but the park was more interesting at the time.

USO2003, I've considered going to HRH and bringing our dog. Kennels are very expensive and I know that our dog would be happier being with us even if it meant staying in a hotel room during the day. We tend to go back to the room once during the day, anyway, so he could be walked then. One problem, though, is that we'd have to find other hotels for our trip down and back (from Maryland) that allow dogs. Also, we would be limited as to how long we could stop for meals, etc, on the trip down and back in hot weather since Magic couldn't be left in a hot car. If I could save $20/day or so on kennel costs it *might* be worth it.

Our family of 6 has been going to Orlando every other year since 1993. We always do Disney and Universal and Sea World. We also bring our 2 golden retreivers with us.

Since we don't go to Orlando very often, we like to stay for 2 to 3 weeks when we go. The main reason that we bring the dogs is that we don't have anyone available to watch our dogs at home for such a long time. That's also a long time to put them in a kennel. They prefer to be with us, so we bring them.

We drive from Illinois in our big conversion van. On the trip down and back, we find motels that will accept pets. There are still plenty of them around if you search hard enough. Since our goal is to get to Florida, we don't waste a lot of time on the trips down and back. When we stop for lunch, it is for a short break, and then we're off again. We leave the dogs in the car and leave the car running during stops. It is never for very long.

When we are at Disney, we stay in a Fort Wilderness home, and the dogs stay in the Fort Wilderness Kennel. It costs $9 per day per pet. We see them, feed them, and walk them all the time while we are there.

When we visit Universal, we stay at the HRH. The dogs stay with us in the room at night and stay by themselves while we are in the parks. They are very well-behaved and never cause a problem. They love to go with us on vacation.

So if you are driving and you don't like to leave your pets at home and they enjoy traveling and they are well-behaved, you should bring them with. The HRH is the ideal place to stay with them.

I just made a reservation for the Royal Pacific for February and we will be bringing our puppy. We live in south Florida and I don't want to board her this early in her life. (She just got over a cold). Anyway, they explained that the "dog" rooms are on the bottom two floors of the hotel. The maids will not make up the rooms unless the owners are present. I said that makes sense in case a dog is vicious and they said that it was really for the dog's safety in case they ran out while the door was open, etc. Our puppy sleeps in a crate so I am not worried about her causing damage to the room and I know she will be SO much better off with us. It is like a normal day, we are gone for the day hours, back to play and feed her, then out for a few ho urs in the evening.

Wow this opened up a whole new CHANCE for me to get back to Universal LOL! We have a 3 year old beagle (Bailey) who my whole family is practically attached to at the hip. Whether we are going to the foodstore or wherever, we always have to bring him because we feel bad. Last year we were only able to go to Universal at the last minute because we didn't have anyone to watch him! He's not very good with other dogs, so my grandparents couldn't since they have a dog. He isn't psycho, but when we left him the last time we went on vacation at my grandparents, they thought he had so much anxiety and wasn't too good.

But as I think more and more of this actually happening, I remember that he likes to be outside smelling/playing all the time, and being in a room would be crazy for him lol.

Oh well, I can dream.

Before I chose a kennel for our dog I searched high and low and visited about 6-8 places. I eventually found one that I like, but it is about a 40 minute drive in a direction that we rarely go on vacation. I tried a place closer to home once, but it wasn't the same quality place. You should see how protective I am with my kids!
