Petition to replace Edy’s ice cream

Turkey Hill never bothered me as an "everyday" ice cream. Better than Edy's, Breyers, and some of the others, but yes it's still an average ice cream but not bad if a company has to serve mass quanitities of a cheaper ice cream. So, for a party or something, I'd always pick up Turkey Hill in fudge ripple, or triple chocolate, etc. But in our area, Tillamook ice cream hit the stores, about $1-$2 more a container and OMG, so much better. Lots more cream in it I guess. So I think whoever is making a switch should switch to Tillamook.

Isn’t there some controversy with them over where their products are made? Part of it was that it wasn’t the idyllic settings that they portrayed, and part was that it was quite far from Tillamook County.

Because there are people like me who buy whatever is on sale for my family, turkey hill, breyers or friendlys. They don’t care.

Right, I totally understand that many people don't have a brand loyalty, but I was not comparing one brand to another brand, but rather one brand to itself. :)

There are various labeling requirements. Breyer’s has a few selections that can’t even be legally labeled as ice cream.

Sorry, I'm obviously not getting my thoughts across well on this one. :) I understand the reason why different recipes need different labels and types of names. I just get a bit of chuckle out of a company bragging about fantastic the ingredients are in one line, while also making far more offerings that don't have those same brag-worthy ingredients. 😄 Not to say they are the only ones that do just that, but it always kind of makes me feel that way.

It's like "Look at our organic/all-natural/fresh/green/etc. line!! It's fabulous for you! It's great for the planet! It's the best ever! (And oh yeah, by the way, we also sell 100 other items without any of this great stuff in it---so buy that, too!)" ;)

I have no clue. I've never heard anything about them, never saw a commercial, I know nothing. I like their cheese. When they came out with ice cream and bought some and I can't get enough of it.

Exactly that! Yes that article is on the money.

“One ice cream blogger wrote, “Frozen Dairy Dessert is the scourge of the ice cream aisle!.”

They changed classics into cheaper versions and hoped we wouldn’t notice if they mixed ‘em all up in the case.

How horrible the company undid decades of some of the best marketing ever.
Milk cream sugar and strawberries 😆
Nobody forgot those commercials and Breyers was truly king for a long time.

There’s nothing particularly wrong with various ingredients. Those old commercials were really just fear mongering.

🤣polysorbate 80. Lol remember that?

It’s not the health aspect, it’s the flavor and texture.

Ben and Jerry's was once a local ice cream for Vermonters. Now it is about the same price as gold and is sold everywhere, but it is still a local Ice Cream. Where does one draw the line. I like Turkey Hill (their Dutch Chocolate is to die for or from, depending on your point of view) but Edy's is good premium stuff as well and probably, at one time, was a really good local product someplace. I'd rather have that then some of the other premium wanna be.

For those in the Chicagoland area we would highly recommend Oberweis Ice Cream. Oberweis started as a Diary in 1927. In 1951 they branched into Ice Cream. They currently operate 41 locations in 7 states. Know for there rich, natural ingredients, it is very good.

Edy's cookies and cream is the best. I'm in the Philly area and think turkey hill ice cream is just ok.

I don’t like Breyers ‘frozen dessert’ that taste like I’m eating a tub of cool whip.
Those use fillers. But Ben & Jerry’s has always used emulsifiers and other additives. That never bothered me.

I tried Mocha Mix nondairy frozen dessert once. That was basically soybean oil, and made me nauseous.
