I'm celebrating my 30th birthday in Disneyland on Sunday and one of the things on my birthday wish list is to get to go on Peter Pan's Flight! My little boys are crazy about Peter Pan and it's going to be amazing sharing the experience with them. :-)

I have been obsessing over the new app though and am constantly seeing long waits for the ride, even early in the morning. :/

What would be a good strategy to to make sure we get to ride PP first thing in the morning? We are planning to be at the turnstiles by 715am on Sunday. Park opens at 8am, no MM/EMH. Should we plan to be there earlier?

We have a brunch reservation at Storytellers at 10am so we'll only have a couple of hours in the park in the morning and I would rather not spend more than half an hour of precious morning ride time for just one ride.

Thanks in advance for all your help! :-)

As for the wait line for PP....... Here's a little pixie dust... pixiedust:

The only tip is to get there early and through the gates to be RIGHT in front for rope drop.
When the rope is down join the stampede to PP. Good Luck

Have a :bday: Sunday

Happy Birthday!! No better place to celebrate!:cake:

PP is crazy and you're right, the line goes from 0 to 60 (min wait) in a matter of minutes. You can do everything right and you won't be the first in line. People run (that's just always going to happen) and they run to PP or Space Mt first thing. If you get there at 7:15 you probably won't be first in line at any given gate, but you'll be near the front of the line at any given gate. The past few Sundays have been the same (rope drop has been further up on Main Street right at the Partner's Statue, at the eastern and western flanks of the Hub on Main Street, and at the entrances to Adventure, Frontier, and Tomorrowland (but you won't care about those last three). Based on a small sample size, it SEEMS as though the security guard at the Partner's Statue drops his rope a tad bit earlier than the two ropes flanking the Hub (but this could have been a fluke occurrence). If we want to ride PP, we've waited at the Partner's Statue. When the rope drops we head straight to PP. When you get to PP you'll notice there is a queue with white rope outside of the permanent ride queue, and a CM directing traffic. The rope queue winds around about three or four times before you reach the main entrance ride queue. You'll notice that people will hop/dive under the ropes to bypass a lot of the rope queue (that's just always going to happen). If you do everything right, even with those who run or hop the rope queue, you'll still "walk on" the ride (meaning you won't be in stop and go ride queue traffic) and I'd say you'll finish the ride at about 8:15.

Thanks so much for the welcome, birthday greeting, tip and pixie dust, Geemo! :-)

I'm not sure what kind of stampede speed we'll have with three boys, but with pixie dust, anything can happen! ;p

Thank you so much, BigCheese! That is going to be super helpful!

What time do you think we have to be there though if we'd like to be in front when the rope drops? A full hour before?

We were there for Sunday rope drop on August 2 trying to get on PP. We got to the gates about 50 minutes early and were the second people in line at our gate. Then when we got into the park, we lined up at the rope on the adventureland/frontierland side of the hub right at the front. The rope drops from left to right and the CM did not hold everyone until the rope was down so stick to the left if you choose to be there instead of in front of the partner statue which was where most of the people headed to fantasyland were.

We did not run but took off straight to PP and were able to get on the ride within the first 15 minutes the park was open. There were plenty of people in front of us, but there were TONS of people behind us!! It really did go to 60 minutes in the first 5 minutes. Space Mtn was still only 15 minutes when we got off, but Matterhorn was already 45 minutes.

Is RD happening in a different location than before? People keep mentioning being IN the hub. Last time I was there, the rope was located at the end of main street, before the hub.

in my experiences, Magic mornings have been at main street, other mornings= one morning in half way hub and one morning in front of castle on last visit.

Don't panic with PP lines in front of you, some of it is stroller drop off , but mostly due to chain area not opening, lines builds up fast back to Castle, then chains open and boom, 15 mins later you are on board for fantasy.

We were there just as they opened and headed straight to PP, still goot a 30 minute wait, worth it.

The last several times we've been there for rope drop going back to last August, they have held in multiple locations around the hub instead of at the top of Main Street.

That is how it has always been until this last trip since they have added the new enhancements. The chains were pretty much open and operational from the moment we got there near the front of the pack and as I walked through the chains and turned back to look, the line was back to the castle. It will take much longer than 15 minutes if you aren't near the front of the pack.

ETA: I'll see if I can figure out how to upload a picture because I turned around and snapped one. It was crazy!

I think I figured it out. I took this to prove to my husband that it was indeed worth it to get up early and be near the front of rope drop.

Ah, I only have experience with EMH RD. That explains it.

We did it this past Sunday and Tuesday: Sunday no EMH, Tuesday was an EMH day.

Sunday, we opted to take the right-hand rope area, which stopped us just before Tomorrowland. We maneuvered right up to the rope. My husband power-walked to PP and we were essentially a walk-on, getting off the ride by 8:12. Tuesday, to our surprise, there were no ropes. It was tough - we expected to have a little breather in the middle, but no. My husband was first in line, but we had to wait for the rest of our party, who couldn't walk quite so quickly for that far. Still, we were off the ride by 7:10.

Thanks so much for all the feedback, everyone! And thanks for the photo, scrapshappen! That is insane! Good motivation to get up early on Sunday! ;)

What is the stroller drop-off? We will most likely have a stroller if we'll be dragging our 3-year-old out of bed. :/ will this slow us down?
