here is a link to a gallery of photos...it was really quite scary at first when i woke at 6am...Even the inside of my house is covered in a thin layer of dust..

All the cars on the roads are covered in red dust...I think the last time something like this happened wqas in the 1930's!

In Sydney the dust was in the air for around 12 hours or so. The dust storm originated in Northern Territory and South Australia and covered most of NSW and went into SE Qld. Outback red dust is so fine and gets in everywhere. Amazing thing to experience for sure. My white car is not white and my pool looks bottomless with a thick layer of dirt on the bottom.

And, it seems to have started just as Pete and Walter were taking off. Amazing timing on their part. However, to all the Aussie folks, take care down there. That must make it extremely difficult to breathe.

The only difficult part is getting all the red dust out of everything in my house.
