PETA's chicken report timing...

Throwing out a theory here so bare with me.... ;)

I question the timing of the PETA Chicken announcement. I believe they waited to release this story to take any attention off of a Democrat misdoing. I think all would agree that PETA is on the far, far left wing of the DNC. The misdoing is Sandy Berger getting caught with honestly stealing classified materials from the National Archives.

Lets look at the facts:
1. The PETA operative worked 5 months in the chicken factory. I'm sure this stuff doesn't just happen overnight (Oh, I feel like kicking chickens today!!! or My dog left me, I am going to go kick some chickens!!!) and doesn't PETA usally shed the light on abuse like this once it is discovered? The operative probably saw the abuse the first day they were on the job. How many chickens could have been saved from the abuse if PETA dispensed this tape earlier?

2. The DNC question the timing of Sandy Berger's story being released. They claim it is being release now because it will take attention away from the 9-11 report release. (Side note: has anyone seen the DNC condeming Sandy Berger's actions?)

So, PETA held onto the story because the DNC knew Berger's story was going to be released sometime this summer. They just waited until right moment to release it.....

Am I starting to sound left-wing like?

TIC, of course. People are being beheaded because of their nationality and PETA gets headlines for chicken abuse discoveries.

I don't think PETA puts that much thought into it, honestly. They're not exactly DNC supporters. I'm gonna go with coincidental on this one ;)

I don't think PETA is capable of mounting a vast left-wing conspiracy like this. It's odd, though, that when the accusations are leveled against someone on the "other side" of the aisle, the comments are all about "the seriousness of the charges." But now that the shoe is on the other foot, we hear nothing from them about the "seriousness of the charges." Instead the new song we here is "it's all about the timing." I've got to make an appt. with a chiropractor to get the kinks out of my neck from trying to follow all the spin on this one!

Hmmm... "Seriousness of the charge...."

Now where have I heard that before?

Ummm, none. It was a slaughterhouse -- those chickens were pretty much screwed no matter how you slice it. :)

I think PETA is a fanatical group.

I belive very strongly in animal rights and I respect the choices of vegetarians who do not force their views on other people.

(Hardcore Vegans I am a little more concerned about because I know a lot of healthy vegetarians and a lot of very ill vegans; I've also never met a hardcore vegan who has been nice to me but that's a whole other story)

That said, I think PETA just likes keeping it's name in the paper. As for this case, I think there was some abuse here, poultry and other livestock should be slaughtered humanely; not kicked and tortured before being slaughtered. I think we all agree on that.

I think PETA has lost most of it's core audience because most normal people do not think it is okay to throw red paint at people wearing synthetic fur at performances of plays and such just to get the message out that they don't like fur. Normal people do not think it is okay to firebomb research labs because you are against animal testing.

Peta....I could care less what they have to say, they are so fanatical. I believe in protecting animals, but these people go beyond reason. Yeah, I know a vegan too, and what a head case..

I wonder - If a bunch of Peta-heads are out camping, and a brown recluse spider crawls on one of them, do the rest just sit around and watch, so as not to hurt the thing? Would the guy with the spider just sit there and take it, because the spider's got a right to eat, too?

I have found a lot of difference between the vegatarians and the vegans I know.

Many of the vegans I know also HATE and are rude to the vegetarians I know. (For the record I know 3 vegans, and mayb 6 vegetarians not including the super nice vegatarians I know on the DIS).

One Vegan guy in particular I work with has given me a hassle for going to AK and said some pretty rude things to me about owning a dog and keeping him on a collar and leash.

He also has called me evil for having a leather purse. Once I wore a coat with FAKE fur on it and he basically said I was evil and promoting the look of fur. He also warned me that his "people" would be out looking for people wearing fur and they don't care if it's real fur or not, everyone needed to be made an example of.

Forget what he said when I told him I was taking my neices to the aquarium...you don't even wanna know.

The guy I mentioned in my above post does not kill mosquitoes.
I asked him if he had a child would he let a swarm of insects just attack his child and he said yes and he'd raise his child to respect all life.

I should also mention that the 6 vegetarians I mentioned think that the 3 vegans esp. this guy) are complete loons.

One of my good friends is a vegetarian and she would NEVER call someone evil for going to the zoo.

One time I asked him how he maintained his health on a vegan diet (this is not even a normal vegan diet, this is like, super-vegan diet ) and he informed me he takes a lot of supplements to keep healthy.

I asked him if he felt bad for all the animals that lost their homes when their forest was knocked down to put up the factory that makes the supplements.

He just called me a naughty word and walked away.

I heard a PETA clown on the radio a couple years ago, and the host gave him a hypothetical situation. He said suppose you're driving down a country road, and you suddenly come upon a baby laying on the road, and also a rabbit. You can't avoid both of them. What do you do?

The guy said he'd steer for the baby, and gave some reasons why he'd do it. I don't remember them because, frankly, they didn't make any sense.

Fanatics of any sort are incomprehensible to me.

A quick hi-jack of the thread here....:yo-yo: I read this on another board I visit and thought it was too funny...

seaweed...a vegans beef jerky

Now, back to the previous subject of PETA:D

There was a few vegans, at least I thought they were, protesting at Downtown Crossing in Boston, in between Macy's and Finlene's...anyway, one walked up to me to give me some kind of pamplet about animal abuse/people eating...whatever, when I asked him if he knew of a good place to get a steak. Man you should have seen his face, and some of the words that came out of his mouth.
