Petals & Pixie Dust Planning Journal 11/30/2009/2010

is there a place at your home that you could do the extensions for cheaper? Does the short hair really not work with the tiara? You do still have time for it to grow and it is summer so hair grows more in summer. I hope it works out hun!

I just don't want it to flop over my shoulders...I know ...pretty dumb thing to think about...but in our first wedding..my hair came over my shoulders and it looked like my hair was taking over my neck...I'm really just being vain...I need to get over it...

I agree about not busting your budget with flowers. It's crazy how expensive the rose petals can be! Using dried petals may reduce the cost...we were looking into them too from this website: http://www.flyboynaturals.com/. We ended up just going through Disney for our staged exit petals because we only had 18 people and the cost wasn't horrible if we used the basket versus individual packets (which I totally recommend for parties under 20). Petals down the isle do look really lovely but they are awfully expensive for the little amount of time you'll be in the pavilion. We actually made our own floral centerpieces for the alter with flowers from a local florist which ended up being much cheaper than going through Disney. They were both moved to our reception site and also served as our table decor which was awesome!

I think another DisBride actually used the dried petals in her wedding too (other than Boardwalk Bride) so maybe you can find pictures to see how they turned out!

But if I have dried petals then don't I have to place them where I want them...and worry about clean up??? I'll keep in mind using the basket for the staged exit...
You're right...the little bit that we are in the WP is not worth the cost of the petals...it just doesn't add up...That is what I'm struggling with...

I think your floral meeting is today and I just wanted to let you know that our aisle petals were only about $50.00. I just told them I wanted $50 worth of petals. I got this tip from lurkyloo. They had quoted me a higher price - if you do not want to spend $300 on you aisle petals - just tell them you want $50 or $100 worth of petals. I do not remember where your ceremony is so that will also have something to do with the number of petals you need. Our ceremony was in Italy in Epcot so it was not a very long aisle.

The only problem I had (which I guess was my fault) was that I wanted to petals on the aisle - not just lining the aisle. I am sorry I did not not specify this. I wish I had asked for maybe $100 worth of petals and have them on the aisle - not just lining the aisle.

Petal Toss - I do not have any photos on Photobucket but I am so happy we did the petal toss. We had 50 people so we floral make up 50 little bags of petals (red and white) to toss. I think they were $3.50 each. The other thing you can do (and it is less expensive) is have floral put petals in a basket and then at the end of the ceremony have someone walk around with the basket and let people take a handful of petals.

Can't wait to hear how your floral appointment works out.

Linda

Floral appointment is next Tuesday...So, I still have a little time. Thanks for the tip on asking for a specific amount of petals. Our wedding is at the wedding pavilion...So, I'm a little worried about how much I'll need petal wise...I'll figure it out...but this tip is great...Thank you!

What about half up? So it won't flop?

Or something like this

That is actually small sections of hair pulled back and curled/pinned to look like an updo, it is really short hair. See the sections on the bottom?

This might be a standby...

this is what my hair looked like for the first wedding...

See how that one lone curl is creeping around my neck??? That is what I don't want. Honestly, I wasn't paying attention to my hair...but its a bit shorter now...due to some bad hair cuts...So we are scrambling to get it longer. I'll have to see if I can get a more recent photo so you can see the length. Part of the problem is that it is naturally curly...So, I have a hard time gaging how long it really is. :confused3

HOLY MOLY 140 DAYS! yikes...I keep telling people its 143...Guess I was hoping for some extra time.

Floral appointment today! I'm worried about this...well...really I'm worried about the budget, but I'll just let Rosie do her magic and we will see what happens. I'll keep you posted.

We've made our F&B min. So, we are all good there.

I had an updated To-Do list...but Im not at home an it is not with me...First order of business is to square away the Tux bit. Need one for DH and FOB. Most of the things that I needed to purchase are done. Just need to really get gifts and bolero...or jacket of some sort. (More on the to-do list later...I don't want to go looking for things to do! LOL)

I heard from Tanis and asked her when we would set up a phone meeting. She said we've done a lot of this via email. So, we can set something up soon...but I got the feeling that would be my only phone call. I'm most nervous about the timeline and photography...but that will all work out. She seems to think that everything is going smoothly...I think she's nuts...but she's the professional and I'm a nervous bride...it all works out in the end I guess..:goodvibes

Off to surf the web and find more photos! :surfweb:

Good luck with floral appointment today. I hope it goes well!!

don't let my bad luck worry you about the photos! i'm sure she knows what she is doing. I would say expressing any concerns is a good idea, the more you talk to her the better.

Let me clarify..I'm worried about the timeline and whether or not I have enough time (6 hours) to cover the entire event...:headache:

Here is how I broke it down
Getting Ready *dont need a ton...just a few
First Look
Family

Ceremony
Couples photos (during pre-reception)
Reception (don't need a lot of photos of people eating...but this just feels like a waste of time)
Dessert Party

Like I said...6 hours...(panic)

OH MY GOODNESS OH MY GOODNESS!!!
My floral meeting was 2 HOURS!!! and I won't have to sell a kidney or my liver to do this! (which I'm kind of shocked about...)
Let's see...
There will be a hidden mickey in DH & dad's bout and in the mother's corsages.
We are only doing petals at the aisle.
We are using a basket of flowers for a petal toss
We will be using the rose dome on the cake table
We will be using my bouquet as the centerpiece
We will be using gel cylinders (I think) for the dessert party
Our table will have a regular ivory table cloth with a satin ivory runner
Our chair covers (which I was so totally against -just due to cost) will also be ivory with satin ivory sashes.

I need to figure out if I want to use black magic roses or classic red roses or both...Not sure on this...Thoughts????

Wow, a 2 hour floral meeting! At least it looks like you accomplished a lot! Everything sounds great! I love petals, I was so happy that I had them and thought it was totally worth it! I really think chair covers are worth it too!

I really like the idea of just black magic roses, so that is what my vote is for!

OK so I guess the 2 hour floral meeting is not the norm??? :confused3
We covered a lot of ground...and got practically everything done.
Like I said, just a couple of things to really consider.
She sent me a pic of a bouquet with black magic roses and classic red roses...it does provide more dimension...here is the pic...
trueredcharolett-deepredblackmagic.jpg

I kind of like it...but I don't know...I think I need to see them in person

Here is the bout...kind of changes around a little bit...but I like it!
rose-diamond-boutonniere.jpg

Found it last minute...this AM. (Minus the diamond-y thingy...add a champagne colored hidden mickey)

NEWS FLASH...Rosie said they don't do curly tails on bouts anymore...

So, I'm going to have to figure out where I can get black magic roses and charolet true red roses and see them in person...

This is never ending!!!

i really like the 2 different red roses. I def think it adds something!

a gift idea for the mothers. me and DH went to a sale at one of the chain jewelers. (Kays) and they had necklaces on sale....like $20 each (normally $100). but they were really nice and both mothers loved them. so thats always a way to go.

Yeah. I think we are going the jewelry route...we will see...

DH doesn't like the 2 tones...said they didn't look right...which is frustrating..who knew a man cared so freaking much about flowers! AUGH...He likes the black magic ones...I'm going to see if I can find a place here that has both...I need to see them I think.

The only problem with using the rose dome thing...is that it is a fake flower and it doesn't come in black magic...just classic red...so, now I'm a bit frustrated to say the least...I really want the rose dome...BUT...I love the bout with the black magic...but grrr...why did there have to be so many choices with this LOL :rotfl2: So, I need to find a happy medium...somewhere...

I saw on your to-do list a "bolero". I don't know what your plans are for this yet, but I wanted to give a shout-out to the etsy vendor who made mine. She did a great job, and a guest at the wedding loved mine so much she contacted the vendor to make one for her wedding as well.

her name on Etsy is maryandangelika.

I don't have a great picture of me in it here at work, but here are few I do have!

and a picture from her etsy site of the one I purchased. (mine was 3/4 sleeves)

I also like the 2 different colored roses! I think the rose dome will look fine with just the one color, though.

Hi Everyone...Looks like I've been MIA for a bit....Here is the update...
I asked a friend of mine to make my bolero...She has had great influence in my life and this will be a way of having her there even though she is not. :goodvibes

We decided on black magic roses...Looking closely at the rose dome...it looked cheaply put together...Not what I wanted...So, our centerpieces for the DP be something similar with gel and roses and such...I'll still have the best of both worlds.

I got my mom her necklace for the wedding (will post pics later)

It's all coming down to little things now...Crazy...120 days until we leave!

Shout Out to my hubby!!! He brought home 2 dozen roses for me on Monday...Just b/c! I love him!

Naaaaah! :lovestruc I should leave this page open so my DF can see what husbands are supposed to do... :rolleyes1

I can't believe it's only 120 days! It feels like you just had your wedding!

LOL...Last time I got roses was 8-9 years ago!

I know it seems like yesterday we were doing Wedding Take 1!!! :rotfl:

I am so glad your floral appt went well. I had 2 different flowers, so also 2 different colors and I think it looked great. Either way, I am sure it will be beautiful.
