Petals & Pixie Dust Planning Journal 11/30/2009/2010

hey lady,
i'm sorry your having so much drama. One thing I will tell you is that my MIL said she was wearing white and I got upset and she told me to deal with it and i was being bridezilla....then she ended up changing her dress anyway! (I didn't find this out til 2 days before) so maybe if she realizes it upsets you she will change her mind.

i'm sorry your mom is now bailing on her side of the hotel. that really sucks and i'm sure you don't need another expense.

I hope everything falls into place dear.

So, after telling MIL that I didn't want her to wear white...and telling her how bad I felt about being bridezilla about it...She is cool with it and wasn't so sure about it herself. Crisis over. :woohoo:

Next, I've been working on projects...I am making these cute little board books with all the important info on them that guests can just throw in their bags...Here is what the cover looks like...I have a couple more pages done-but forgot to take pics without phone number and such on them...
So, for now here is the cover...
IMG_4484.jpg

I have things like where the magical express is at MCO, all of our phone numbers, how to get from here to there, the limo schedule, ADRs & how many table service credits they are using on each...I think I have a few more pages open...so please feel free to add to this...

Next, I found these frames and I think I'm going to use them as favors and place cards...

P1940_m.jpg

I wanted to originally do mouse ears...but honestly, I'd rather spend the money on something else...These were something like $3 a piece vs $20...

I was assigned Rosie for floral. I emailed her and told her any tuesday or friday would be good to meet-but I haven't heard from her...I might have to either call or resend the email. I've found that occasionally my stuff gets sent to their spam folders...

I think that is all to report for now...we are finalizing our menu...we're about $50 short after a little tweeking so we need to add in vendor meals and then see what we come up with...but so far so good. I'm doing pretty well with budget...I'm just afraid floral is going to break me! We will see.

I really like your booklets, I might steal that idea, it would be handy for the guests to have. I love your design of it too. I need to get more creative...

You've actually just reminded me that I have a whole heap of matching gold photoframes in a box hidden somewhere around the house, I'm going to dig them up, because they'd be perfect for table numbers or names or lots of stuff! I can't believe I hadn't though of it already!!

Your board books look great! That is such a good idea! And I think that the frames look really nice - it would be a big price difference that you could use somewhere else!

Thanks. I loved the idea-but it's creating a lot of work (I have 156 days until we leave...but still...LOL) Each one will be unique to the couple's ADRs

I'm not thrilled with the frames...but just can't swallow the price difference! The frames are perfect for our location. So, now to just place the order!

Thanks! I love the book idea too. Like I said above...a lot of work! Oh well. It will be worth it.

those little info books are great! They will be so helpful. I'm glad to hear your MIL came around.....it is a tad silly that immediate family members even consider wearing white...and you have to have that discussion but i'm glad its all better now. The little frames are a great favor!

Thanks. I hope so...Now if we could get the whole group to move with the limo schedule then we will call it a success...Ok so yes. I'm a bit worried about the limo schedule. A LOT worried. but it isn't my fault if they miss the car. Then, they will have to figure out how to get from here to there. Not much I can do about that.

I emailed my WP and asked if I could get a "My First Visit" pin for DHs sister. I can't count on that she will step up and tell them at check in that this is her first visit and I want to make sure she gets the pin...

We got a batch of pins from ebay yesterday...$1 each!!! We love trading...so this was a good deal. It makes me excited about the trip...but now I want to buy more!!! :rolleyes1 Oh well there is always the cruise that we have coming up as well right??? You can always use pins...:rolleyes1:rotfl2:

you are doing your part so if the guests mess up and don't take the limo its not YOUR fault. don't stress

You should have told me you needed one! I would have grabbed one for you! You can always grab one at MK they now have a cart outside and you don't have to ask.

We did the same thing! they really came in handy and I got a lot of good ones (i'll post my loot on mine TR soon) we got an insane amount of pins, traded and bought its a sickness. We also got into Vinylmation which is a way more expensive addiction haha.

Agreed.

I want it for her final mailing...I emailed my coordinator and asked if she could get me one.

Yes. Pin trading is a sickness...I wonder if there is a 12 step program...I want to order more! :rotfl2:

So, we are working on our food and bev min...I need to spend $9! 9 STINKING LITTLE DOLLARS!!! :headache:

Can you get a little something added to the cake to make up the $9? Or get icecream for the bridal party to go with their cake? :confused3

Can you get a little something added to the cake to make up the $9? Or get icecream for the bridal party to go with their cake? :confused3

I emailed my WC and asked if we could add $9 worth of fruit garnish to our pre-reception...I'm expecting a big fat no...but how do you know if you don't ask-right?
We could up grade to an antipasto display...but honestly...it won't work b/c we don't want something so heavy BEFORE our meal. We will figure it out. I'll keep you posted...its so hard to be soooo close!!! I really want to stay within budget...REALLY REALLY...but we will see what happens.

...but not really sure why...OK so there is a lot that I have to do...
I think a lot of my floral issues come from having my floral call with Rosie next Tuesday. I KNOW this is where my budget is going to bust. :sad2: AND I DONT WANT IT TO!
So, I talked to DH and we both agree that we aren't going to go into debt for flowers....BUT I want rose petals down the aisle (what $300-just to throw away petals after the fact...:scared1:) So, I'm hoping Rosie can come up with an alternative...or some sort...not sure what that is going to be yet...but we will see...
I want to do a staged exit...(cheap enough)

Now, just for something simple for the reception that isn't going to cost us an arm and a leg and half a liver...
I found these...and I love these
rose-centerpiece-ideas-01.jpg

Not the roses in the shot glasses-the flower ball with the little glass stem...perfect...GOD only knows what these are going to cost...I think they are spray roses...maybe they will be cheaper??? AND they are little! Not super huge...come on work with me here!

Boutinnieres...
This rose...

This greenery
Boutonniere-716855.jpg

Except i want the greenery behind the rose more...if that makes much of any sense...

Coursages for the moms similar to the above only for a wrist...

Then I found these and thought for pre-reception and dessert party...they would be pretty cool....and simple which I'm hoping will equal reasonably priced.
imageload-1.jpg

Again...price??? I thought about doing clear gel with a red rose on the inside of the gel with the light up cubes in the bottom...which is still a possibility...I'll have to ask Rosie...

Do I do linens with Rosie too??? AUGH! This is crazy...I want off white linens...maybe something red...to accent and NO ABSOLUTELY NO clouding on the cake table...is that so hard???? :rolleyes1 That might cost me a kidney...am I stressing too much :rotfl2:

I'm so nervous this is nuts! I should not be this worried about FLOWERS!

So, what is left on the to-do...Which has drastically changed lately...

-I still need to worry about a bolero jacket...been reading on various posts on the trip planning boards that weather can be layering type...strapless dress...no good.

-Finish my guest books...I've only been working on one...should really just get these done (maybe today...it's 90+ outside...and humid...love dry heat...humid sucks...)

-I decided to have a lia sophia book show...so that I could get some jewelry for my mom and mother in law and myself...anyone interested...PM me...Special this month is buy one at full price and get 2 at half price...

-figure the hair length thing out...I really dont want to do extensions if I don't have to... very frustrated about this...

-Gifts...I'm figuring golf for dad...and this for mom...She has never gotten a little blue box...so I figured what the heck right...
http://www.tiffany.com/Shopping/Ite...params=s+5-p+3-c+563629-r+-x+-n+6-ri+-ni+0-t+

(sorry it wouldn't come up in photobucket for me and I'm not in the mood to fight with it...)

I have no clue what we are doing for DH's mom...

-I still have to order the photopass pre-order, place card, some random stuff and figure out how to NOT have a tan line in my pics...

Ok now that I'm done spazing out....off to be productive today...:cheer2:

I love your centerpiece idea, I am sure they can work with you. Remember they can even move the same floral from the ceremony if you want, we did that to save $$. We even moved it to the dessert party, so you could consider that too. I hope it works out!

I am sure you can work something out with your hair, too. If you don't want extensions, do you mean th full on kind, or the clip in? I couldn't find any hair pics, maybe we can give you ideas?

I think everything is coming together great! :)

Floral can definitely be stressful! Especially because you don't know the pricing on anything before hand. Just try and breathe - you will get it worked out so that it is the way that you want it.

I love the centrepieces, they look beautiful and definitely be done. I think that these are a type that could double as ceremony decor (i.e., on pillars) so you get more for your money.

I have heard so many great things about Rosie, I am sure that she will work with you to find something that you are happy with but doesn't cost a fortune. You can get a smaller amount of aisle petals if you want, so it costs less but is still there.

You will do your linens with Rosie as well. My planner told me to go to www.linenshowroom.com, where they have pictures of all of the different linens available to you. If you find something you like, your planner can give you prices.

So I hope that you can get this all sorted out in your meeting and start to feel better about it all!

thanks. I'll think about moving stuff around some. That could work too...
I've asked the hair question a ton of times...I know what I want in my mind-but can't find the perfect picture I guess....but my hair just doesn't have the length to do it...its a never ending frustrating process...

Thanks...I'm worried about the linen thing...it seems ridiculous really...but we will see what Rosie has to say...we weren't planning on a lot at the alter...just didn't really see the point...after all we are going to be standing in front of it! :rotfl: We will see...

I'm going to be the same way when my time comes. I love flowers, but I don't want to blow my budget on them :confused3

I see some beautiful things that I absolutely love, but know not to get my hopes up, because they'll be more then my budget :headache:

It will work out in the end, it's just this stupid part where you have no idea what you're going to end up with!

i'm sorry your so stressed out hun! I really do love what you have chosen and I hope that it fits into your budget. for the aisle have you thought about doing dried flowers? or fake? It was just a thought to save money. Boardwalk_bride was going to use dried (and of course I can't find the picture!) and it was very pretty. Just a thought.
another way i saved money was doing candle center pieces instead of flowers. It saved us so much money.
what length is your hair now? How far away are you from the length you want? depending on hair style they can clip in length without getting more permanent extensions.
try not to stress. I found that if I just thought about other things for a few days when i went back to my stressing problem I felt a lot better about it.

I wish there was some base price list or something...at least you would know what you're getting into...no worries...I've scrounged the BEO board...it's just daunting to think..."I could really blow the budget here.":scared1:

My hair is just past my shoulders...and nauturally curly...I have Patricia LeJeune doing my hair and make-up...so the cost for extensions with her is $250!!! :scared1: So, yeah we can clip in length...but that comes with a price to...If I didnt buy this tiara years ago...set on wearing it for my wedding...it wouldn't be an issue...but I had to have it...and it cost too much to NOT wear. I love it don't get me wrong...but sheesh! It will work out...I still have how many days left???:rolleyes1

I agree about not busting your budget with flowers. It's crazy how expensive the rose petals can be! Using dried petals may reduce the cost...we were looking into them too from this website: http://www.flyboynaturals.com/. We ended up just going through Disney for our staged exit petals because we only had 18 people and the cost wasn't horrible if we used the basket versus individual packets (which I totally recommend for parties under 20). Petals down the isle do look really lovely but they are awfully expensive for the little amount of time you'll be in the pavilion. We actually made our own floral centerpieces for the alter with flowers from a local florist which ended up being much cheaper than going through Disney. They were both moved to our reception site and also served as our table decor which was awesome!

I think another DisBride actually used the dried petals in her wedding too (other than Boardwalk Bride) so maybe you can find pictures to see how they turned out!

Thanks! I will definitely do this! Our floral is pretty simple overall. All red roses...I'm teetering on whether or not to have aisle petals and then petals to toss...I'm having a hard time trying to decide if I want the aisle petals $300 is a bit steep...but I love the look.

I think your floral meeting is today and I just wanted to let you know that our aisle petals were only about $50.00. I just told them I wanted $50 worth of petals. I got this tip from lurkyloo. They had quoted me a higher price - if you do not want to spend $300 on you aisle petals - just tell them you want $50 or $100 worth of petals. I do not remember where your ceremony is so that will also have something to do with the number of petals you need. Our ceremony was in Italy in Epcot so it was not a very long aisle.

b663e728.jpg

The only problem I had (which I guess was my fault) was that I wanted to petals on the aisle - not just lining the aisle. I am sorry I did not not specify this. I wish I had asked for maybe $100 worth of petals and have them on the aisle - not just lining the aisle.

Petal Toss - I do not have any photos on Photobucket but I am so happy we did the petal toss. We had 50 people so we floral make up 50 little bags of petals (red and white) to toss. I think they were $3.50 each. The other thing you can do (and it is less expensive) is have floral put petals in a basket and then at the end of the ceremony have someone walk around with the basket and let people take a handful of petals.

Can't wait to hear how your floral appointment works out.

Linda
