I just received my latest issue of a magazine that has this Dog Treat recipe:

PREP: 20 minutes
BAKE: 25 minutes + cooling time
YIELD: about 3 dozen

1 package (1/4 oz.) active dry yeast
1/4 cup warm water (110 to 115 degrees)
1 teaspoon beef bouilon granules
2 tablespons boiling water
2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup nonfat dry milk powder
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup cooked long grain rice
1 envelope unflavored gelatin
1 jar (4 oz.) vegetable beef dinner baby food
1 egg
2 tablespoons vegetable oil

In a small bowl, dissovle yeast in warm water. In another small bowl, dissolved beef bouillon in boiling water. In a large bowl combine the all-purpose flour, milk powder, wheat flour, rice, and gelatin. Sir in the baby food, egg, oil, yeast mixture and bouillon mixture until combined; knead until mixture forms a ball.

Turn onto lightly floured surface; roll to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut with a floured 2-inch bone-shaped cookie cutter. Place 1-inch apart on ungreased baking sheets.

Bake at 300 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until set. Remove to wire racks to cool. Let stand for 24 hours or until hardened. Store in an airtight container.

Cool! We have a dog with poultry allergy. You have no idea how hard it is to find treats that don't have some form of poutry! We can't trust that the "animal fat" or "bone meal" are not from a poultry source, so we have to be very selective in our choices.

This sounds like an interesting option. Maggie

Thanks! I made the treats for my doggie and she really likes them.

Thanks I'm going to make these for my dog over Christmas vacation.
