Not a stupid question. I thought double matted meant three layers, but it means two.
For your Dog Tag shaped one, you could cut another one in a different color and cut it in 1/2 and put that on it. True it would only be double matted for 1/2 of the tag, but I but it would still look cute. Or you could put them slightly off center from each other, so one is peeking to one side.
My tags have die cuts on them. Two layers of paper than the die cut and some ribbon diagonal across on one. The other one has a brad & die cut. I bet the embossed dog would look great.

do you have a picture? you lost me on "only the hole on the top layer shows" -- is the top layer angled/crooked? are you saying you line the holes or angle it enough that the holes are not over each other?
for your help!! new die cut machine for me and i really want to learn the tricks!
This machine is too darn cute.
Sooooo it all went in the bin for something else and I had to put on the thinking cap again and order supplies...
But dont worry, I actually do a good job... lol.
Besides, I couldn't figure out out to seal them so the beads couldn't fall out. I think that cricut cartridge has the same template if anyone knows how to use it, lol.
