We take our 50+ lb dog (she's a shepherd/lab mix) with us on every trip to Disney and put her in the Ft. Wilderness kennel. Prior to Disney outsourcing the kennels to Best Friends Pet Care, guests were required to walk their pets 2-3 times a day. Best Friends now does the walking, but we still go over and walk her several times a day just so we can play with her. They have always been absolutely wonderful, and although it is difficult to leave her at night (especially since she's afraid of the dark), she never resists staying at the kennel. Best Friends is building a pet resort/spa, which will be located somewhere near the golf course close to Ft. Wilderness.
If this doesn't appeal to you, there is a Residence Inn not too far from WDW, located just behind The Crossings shopping plaza, which is relatively new and allows pets. We have stayed here once before and loved it. You may want to check with them. Their website is http://www.marriottresidenceinnlbv.com/accommodations.htm
Thanks for letting me know about that kennel option! It is great to hear someone with a good experience. Do they allow reservations? I thought I read on another thread that the kennels don't take reservations.
make sure your fourfooted travel companion has a number you can be reached at all the time while you're traveling..JUST in case!
When we got back to Disney in May, I'm leaving him home and having my aunt check on him once a day.
) and be there to sleep at night. Just a thought.
