i love showing off my babies!!!
first, my sweetheart, my Marea (like Mario, but with an "a" at the end).

She's MY first dog, instead of just my parent's dogs. i took her from my friends, whom i love dearly, but they were not good pet owners, unfortunately. It was part inexperience & ignorance, and then her breed...she's part ChowChow, part something, but is definitely all Chow in personality.
When i got her, all of the fur on the back of her legs was missing. My friends thought it was because she had fleas, and had been washing her vigorously with flea shampoo.

In reality, it was just because she was so bored and so nervous, from not being walked and cared for, and living in a chaotic household with no clear leadership. Within two weeks of me getting her, it was growing back...it just took a lot of love and three walks a day!
She still has pretty major behavioral issues, because she wasn't socialized with humans or other animals properly. But it's truly amazing how much better she's gotten in the 2 1/2ish years i've had her. We've come a looong way, and she's my little (semi...mostly, haha) success story.
SO...without further ado...
Marea Jane
froggygrrrl, she looks just like your Scully! i love all of your babies; i'm
obsessed with Chows now.
Puffy tail!! it looks like i took a crimping iron to it. i, uh, did not.

This is one of her favorite spots, looking down the stairway of the backporch, over the entire backyard and part of the driveway. She's very much my little sentinel.
We also have Maggie (11 yo purebred chocolate lab, my mom's first furbaby):
Rubbing herself on my scarf...she rubs herself on my hair and clothes, i think she's trying to convince my mom that she's human like me! (And thus, deserves the same dinner i get

)
and Mazel Tov, the Wazzle Dog...also known as Molly, a.k.a. THE WORST DOG EVER...no really.

She smells SO bad, from both ends, is a complete SPAZZ even at age 8ish, has absolutely no concept of personal space, humps our couch pillows even though she's a girl, is all dandruffy and sheds tons, and actually ran into my mom so hard that she tore her meniscus and required surgery; my MOM did, that is...WORST. DOG. EVER.

Her only redeeming quality is that she is a cuddlebug, and unlike our other two, she IS aware that she is a dog, not human or otherwise. If she wasn't so darn cute...
her front legs are wayyy to short for her.
at Christmas...she wore the bow for HOURS, she had no idea it was there.
Our cat Larry, about a year old. He's such a gorgeous boy, he kind of looks like a bengal. He's quite the talker!!
sooo proud of myself for this picture
...but wait! There's more!!
At my dad's house, we have two 15ish year old kitties who i don't have any pictures of, they are Love & Scaredy Cat.
And we have two Great Danes! Yah...it's a whole lotta dog. And they're pretty small!
i don't have very good pictures of them, though.
8 year old Lucy. Danes don't live for very long, so she'll be going soon.

She's scared of the camera so i had to be sneaky and get this with my phone.
and BOOMER!! He's actually a GD/English Mastiff mix. Yeah. It's a WHOLE LOTTA dog.
(bonus: me!)
Lucy's in the background here. Note height of dining room table, then height of dogs. It's fun eating dinner with your dog panting (LITERALLY) in your ear.
with my 6'2" brother.
okay...i'm done now!! But i'm sure you all understand. i'm not a kid person...i'm an animal person, all the way!!
