Pet peeves I saw today at Magic Kingdom

This post made me so angry. Kill yourself, don't try to kill us too. As for the asthma comment, and saying they should just stay at home to avoid smoke, that is ridiculous. You should have respect for the people around you.
As should you. I'll send you a quarter.

>>>"I have ofter wondered the same thing about smokers, why do they blow the smoke away from themselves?"<<<

Cause it's kind of hard to blow smoke into themselves, don't you think?

What appears to be away from themselves actually is an effort to blow it to a neutral spot that will least effect people. When I was a smoker, I did that all the time. When you're facing forward you usually are face to face with someone, so you make the attempt to blow it sideways and away from the ones that you are talking too. It is a futile attempt at best, but it really does have a noble intention.

:smokin: Please do away with this "smile"...smoking is not cool!

To go along with this, I had a friend who quit smoking. She said that until she quit and found out what it was like to be a nonsmoker around a smoker, she thought that by blowing the smoke to the side and waving it away with her hand that the smoke went away and couldn't bother anybody.

Cant wait for the smoking ban to start in NJ in all local places.. :cool2:

For me.. Question #3 I was just at WDW and my wife and I were standing left of the castle and I started choking on cigerette smoke... A lady next to me lit up a smoke... I told her if I wanted to inhale cigerette smoke I would have gone to the smoking area... she told me I was rude and walked away... LOL... Can you imagine...

Amen, AFC!!! :thumbsup2 Reading this entire thread, I am thinking...

nobody ever goes to a mall, any other theme park, ever takes public transportation, ever goes to a holiday parade, ever dines out at counter service or buffets....???

Has ever had a child - or adult "meltdown"?

There are only a precious few in this thread who seem to have grown up enough to live and let live and let go of peeves on such a glorious vacation. While I feel for those whose shins have been battered by a stroller - every complaint here is a minor annoyance that occurs everyday in the "real" imperfect world out there...

A bit of gratitude for health and wealthy enough to BE in WDW could help....

JMHO....:sunny:

I agree with your humble opinion. :thumbsup2

Sometimes we look at the faults of everyone else and neglect to see we are blessed. Can you imagine being in a place so full of magic and the only thing you can focus on is a laundry list of "pet peeves". Sometimes we would be better served to give people the benefit of the doubt instead of assuming their intention was to "do something to me." :grouphug:

All that said, the smoking thing is still valid as I earlier stated. :smokin: :crazy2:

To add among the other pet peeves with buses and seating...I saw on more than one occasion, the buses filled to capacity with multiple people (including children and elderly) standing while someone who was seated using another seat for their purse or backpack. Unfortunately, both times no one said anything to the people. I don't need to sit, but from the looks of some people (tired parents with small children mostly) they looked like they could have used the seat. I wish on times like those someone who speak up and just say, "would you mind if I sat there with my small child?" etc. :confused3

:smokin: Please do away with this "smile"...smoking is not cool!

No- please DO NOT get rid of the little "smokey guy" cuz i like 'em and he is part of my signature!

just because people see the little dude does not mean someone is going to be tempted to light up that has never smoked before!-- we are all adults here and we do not need people starting to dictate what little cartoons are "politically correct"!

:moped: wear your helmet!
:coffee: caffine is bad for you!
:duck: dont throw rocks- you are going to poke someones eye out!
:worship: hey- who is he praying/worshiping to??
:badpc: you need anger management!
 what are you saying- people that have mental problems are "crazy"?
:clown: clowns just scare me--- i think they are creepy- i think they should be banned form this site.
:santa: santa?? not even touching that one after the whole holiday religious debate!
:wizard: witchcraft??- (not that anything is wrong with that! :thumbsup2 )
:love2: hey wait-- is that a boy and a girl??
:drinking1 driking is wrong- it can lead to alcoholism!

OK I AM DONE-- BUT DO YOU GET MY POINT-- ??! :scratchin

I have been reading these boards and see that some people find it ok to save a table for their family in line ordering food. I don't have a problem with that. I have a problem with them saving a table when the line is a half hour long. Save a table all you want but please be conscious of how long it might take your family to order and wait for their food. The average family on the go could probably eat in 20 minutes. The table you are saving ,someone could have used and been done by the time your family gets out of line.

I wouldn't save a table for 30 minutes but more than likely if the line looked that long we wouldn't stop at that place anyway. When my dh gets in line I stand back and observe the tables and which ones look like they will open up soon. No, not hovering, I hate it when people hover over you when you're eating like, "hurry up and finish so we can sit there." So I NEVER remotely do that. When I see my dh ordering I *will* then take the kids to the table and send one to help him carry food. I do not mean to be rude doing that, nor do I think I am but I don't want to wait until we have two trays of food and then have to walk around aimlessly while it gets cold. I think a little common sense comes into play here.

I can honestly deal with almost everything at WDW except for the people who stop and have little conversations amongst themselves in the middle of busy walkways. Over President's week. We would try to navigate the very busy walkway between Liberty Square and Peter Pan's Flight. EVERYTIME, a group of 4-10 people will have stopped in the middle of the path in a wide circle talking. Ya know, you could move over to the benches near the restrooms, over near the stroller parking or just get out of the way. Geez, that drives me crazy.

I would much rather have them stay in front of you.........if they move from that spot they may then be in front of me! :rotfl:

Remember, if they do the same thing in another location it does not solve a problem, it just relocates it to someone else's "personal bubble." :crowded:

1. Why do you think it is ok to just stop in the middle of a moving crowd of 1000 people?

3. Did you think the "Smoke Only in Designated Areas" rule doesn't apply to you?

Sorry, just thought I would get that off my chest. Besides all that, I really did have a Magical Day.

These are the 2 things that absolutely drove me crazy.....it all boils down to having respect for other people.....when is it that we forget "Do unto others as you would have others do unto you" :scratchin

Can I really make the anti-peeve crowd upset and add one more that I noticed today at Downtown Disney?

Do you really need to take a picture of little Junior wearing every funny Disney hat that they sell at World of Disney? Completely blocking people from walking through the middle of the store in the process?

Some families are not blessed to the point of making multiple trips to WDW every year (many can only go once in a lifetime) so they make the most of every minute while they are there. Let the kid have his fun by trying on the hats (maybe his parents can't afford to buy him one) it may be the one memory to last him till the day he dies. Compassion people!!! That is what so many of us seem to lack these days.

No, I do not advocate children run wild. I also hope someone does not start the "if they are that poor they should not come here" line of flaming. Remember, compassion can be more rewarding than the material things we prize so dearly. :goodvibes

I was so annoyed with people on their phones when I was there. I couldn't believe that someone would bring their child to "the most magical place on earth" and then talk the whole time on their phones!

I have to question why these people had children in the first place.

(I even saw one dad get OUT of line for an attraction to talk on the phone...leaving his wife and daughter in line.)

I think you are being a bit harsh. At least the father got out of line to take the call. REalize, he is probably on a business call. Some people are always on call, and well, lets be realistic, the job is what pays for the vacation. When I am in the parks, I use my phone to keep in touch with my other family members in the park. As long as you are not using the phone on an attraction, why is it a bother?

I agree about not knowing why the person was on the phone. It could have been something necessary. We turned off our phones during the day, not wanting to take a chance of their ringing during a ride or show or meal, and when we checked them for messages at night, we discovered that our daughter-in-law had been in an accident earlier (she's OK). I felt kind of badly about not picking up when our son called. Oh well.

As a result of reading this thread, I have two new pet peeves . . .

1. People who type a lengthy post about how stupid this post is, and argue day to day with others' points of view. (How do you find the time?)

2. People who post using mostly abbreviations and I have NO IDEA what they are trying to say, so I have to skip it :duck:

I just thought I'd make some observations:

1) look at how many posts were made here in such a short time !

2) How did we all exist before there were such things as cell phones?

3) If you see me do any of these thing while I'm at WDW in 21 days TELL ME!!! (I'll have my lime green HD paint chip)

4) oh, yeah, its only 21 days until I make my first trip to WDW!!    :Pinkbounc  :woohoo: :woohoo:

Ah yes, I see your point.

It's oh so much better to "find the time" to complain about how stupid other people are in the parks, and how stupid they are for typing in abbreviations.

Gotcha. :thumbsup2

Let's not let this turn into a real hate-fest. I innocently started this thread with some peeves that I noticed in one day at the Magic Kingdom. What it really comes down to as pointed out by another poster is consideration for your fellow guest, the Golden Rule. Everything I do when visiting a place like MK, I am always asking myself, "Am I or is my family being inconsiderate to other people right now?" It just seems that no one else ever asks themselves that question. It annoys me to spend so much time trying to be considerate of others when a lot of those others are not returning the favor.

If everyone asked themselves that question everytime they interacted with other people, the world would be a much more considerate place.

Don't let the ones in line smoking talking on their cell phones while letting their children run wild because the other adult is holding a table for 30 minutes get you down!! (Just kidding) :rotfl2:
