Pet peeves I saw today at Magic Kingdom

I've seen plenty of people step to the side and wait for the next bus, rather than stand.

We learned this the hard way on our first trip with our two kids. Complete meltdown, in the bus after MVMCP. Thank goodness someone gave me a seat so I could hold 2 crying kids in my lap on the way back to BWV. ( yes, they did take a nap that afternoon) DH stood while holding the strollers.

We laugh now about how awful that bus ride home was, but you can bet that we step aside and wait for the next bus so we can get a seat.

and you have to second guess which way there really going in so you dont run into theml--

and if you would hit it would be your fault even there werent watching where they were going

Should they get brake lights and a blinker implanted? Would that help? I serious don't get why people get so bent out of shape over this.

When I don't know where I am or where I am going I immediately pull my family over to the side and out of the way of wherever we are before yanking out my map. I don't just stop in the middle of a crowd and look around. Usually these people just stand there like an island in a stream of people. They are completely oblivious to the possibility that they are making moving through that section of the park much more difficult. I guess because I would never do it to others, it annoys me that others would. That whole Golden Rule thing.

Wednesday night after Spectromagic, I sat on a white bench with my DS to tie his shoe. Unfortunately someone had left there gum (also white) on the bench rather than in the trash 2 feet away - ruined my brand new black mickey shorts.

Unless someone is physically harming someone or doing something illegal in the parks, don't sweat the small stuff. Sometimes people have reasons for doing something that annoys you that you are not aware of.

If you and your family are healthy and visiting WDW, you are doing better than 99.9% of the people in the world.

Amen, AFC!!! Reading this entire thread, I am thinking...

nobody ever goes to a mall, any other theme park, ever takes public transportation, ever goes to a holiday parade, ever dines out at counter service or buffets....???

There are only a precious few in this thread who seem to have grown up enough to live and let live and let go of peeves on such a glorious vacation. While I feel for those whose shins have been battered by a stroller - every complaint here is a minor annoyance that occurs everyday in the "real" imperfect world out there...

A bit of gratitude for health and wealthy enough to BE in WDW could help....

for the love of *insert deity here* please DO NOT stand up on the safari or the train or the boatride OR allow your child to stand on the seat, even if you are holding him/her There are SUDDEN STOPS and BUMPS and you or your child could get hurt or even FALL OUT. I am NOT going to rescue you when you fall out of the truck and over the crocidile bridge, and I don't care what language you speak, we shouldn't have to tell you!

and if someone is having a loud, long, unecessary conversation on the truck (i actually had someone talk on their cell from the hippos to the elephants about where to have DINNER!!) I WILL talk louder on the mic and I WILL make fun of you whenever the opportunity presents itself.

i was working at departure 3 (the handicap load/unload) at safari today, and there was an animal stop.. 2 actually, the giraffes decided they liked to hang out in the road today. well, they always have the right of way, so there isn't much we can do. the line really started to back up, and a family of 4 with an autistic child was getting VERY upset (which i understand - it's aggravating for everyone) and asked me how long it would be. i answered honestly - I wasnt sure, because of an animal stop. He yelled for another minute or to, and then I think he felt better. The truck pulled up a few minutes later and him and his family got on. The woman behind him in a wheelchair stopped me and said "Dear, you have the patience of a saint. I could NEVER do this job."

I don't expect praise for doing my job, but it is nice to be recognized sometimes. Thanks for <3ing CMs because we <3 you too! Well, most of you. As long as you're not a brazilian tour group, or smoking outside the smoking section, or getting upset that you cannot enter the fastpass line before your time.

And if you DO see someone smoking outside of their area, tell a CM! They may not have noticed - we have a LOT of things to be looking out for. And if they are just trying to avoid confruntation, then they will usually buck up and say something. I'd really advise you from saying anything (espeically something mean) to them - let us handle it! I don't want YOU to get kicked out of the park for trying to stand up for the rights of your lungs! Personally, my trainer played a game with us, if we smelled smoke, whoever found the smoker and advised them of the closest smoking area wins.

In closing, I LOVE being a CM and i LOVE my job and i LOVE guests who make it easier for me. Oh and I LOVE little kids who get SO over-excited about seeing the giraffes that they call them zebras.

This just came to me thinking about the whole give up your sit thing on buses:

Why do some people get out of their wheelchairs or electric scooters and take up another seat on the buses? Just wondering why they don't stay in their wheelchair and leave the other seat for someone else. It can't be a safetly thing because I've seen people stay in them.

A pet peeve I just realized is people who use water spritzer things and don't care who they spray while spraying themselves. It really bothers me if I have my camera and it gets all wet from someone being oblivious.

We were at WDW in January with my parents. My Mom is in a wheelchair, which we pushed and my Dad used an electric wheelchair. I don't know how many times my Dad had to stop because of people just walking or stopping in front of him. It drove him crazy.
In MGM one day, my husband saved us a space to watch the parade. My son was sitting in his stroller and was very excited for the parade. Two woman stepped in front of us and just stood there. We asked them to move and they acted like they didn't understand what we were saying. We said just about anything-but they never moved. We had to stand and hold my son for the whole parade-not fun!!! Try to be considerate people!!!

*applauds* Thanks for making that statement! You are quite correct! Some of the things in this thread amaze me that people even notice. I don't think you're truly "experiencing the magic" if you can get THAT annoyed about little things at DW. Some of the things listed here I can understand, but others are really far-fetched and I think some of these people are just annoyed by life and people in general, not just people in DW. Try to lighten up, guys!

What about people who let their kids run screaming down the hallways of resorts in the early morning or late at night? Or really anytime I guess. RUDE. I teach my son to step quietly and whisper so as not to disturb people and sometimes he reminds us too!

My latest experience with the last minute parade-seating butter-inners was while we were waiting for Share a Dream Come True at MK on the balcony outside the train station. Good spot. We'd bee waiting quite a while in the cold, it's breezy up there because it's elevated. A guy came up there and asked if he could bring his toddler in a stroller up and if people could make room for them at the railing. People were like, "ummmm....there really isn't any room, we're pretty full" but he didn't really wait to hear the answer, he just pushed his way in and started SCREAMING down to his wife waiting on Main Street. It was pretty funny because he asked someone how to get up with a stroller (all you can really see are the stairs) and someone told him and he was SCREAMING down to her how to do it. But then she couldn't find the ramp and he was berating her at the top of his lungs and someone else's baby woke up crying from his yelling. Chaos. Then the parade started and I don't know what ever happened to him. Ah, the crazy public. What can you do?

That was NOT what I said at all, MQuara. I guess I just haven't ever had the experience of coming back from a WDW vacation and even thinking about "venting", "annoyances" or "complaining" - especially about other guests and kids.

Thinking back, I have, indeed, addressed kicking feet behind me, or asked someone to move who was blocking my entrance or egress. I have posted about sad infant cries in dark shows.

I guess what I was trying to say that I am always so grateful to BE in WDW alive and happy that I simply don't notice all the things posters have expressed with extreme annoyance, and even anger and disgust - and not about Disney or the parks or resorts - but about fellow guests!

It just surprised me tremendously. (And I live in NY - capital of rudeness, some say.... )

Well, since I started this thread, I never said I didn't have fun, but it was fresh enough in my mind that I thought I would mention some of the annoyances that seemed to occur more than once throughout the day. I'll admit, I am a type A person and will probably die of a heart attack before I am 50. Things bother me more than they might other people. The fact that I still had fun, means it was an absolutely fabulous experience to mere mortals.

And if you personally don't like to read about pet peeves, then just skip over this thread. It wasn't like I was hiding the subject of this thread or anything.

Are you serious? I'm so sorry that your children are tired, but I will not give my seat up to a tired child. I will give my seat up to the elderly, disabled, or parents carrying an infant or toddler. But not to a child that is tired. I have 2 children of my own and I would never expect someone to give up their seat just because my child is tired. Like another post said, wait for the next bus if you have to. I have put my child on my lap to free up a seat for someone and have even had my older child get up to let someone sit down.

IMO I think that there are some people out there that think just because they pay the money we all do, to go to Disney, that everyone around them owe them something. Like they own the park. Unfortunately it seems like the rudeness is getting worse. Also because I have children, I always hold the door for people with strollers, wheelchairs, trays full of food, or holding little ones hands. I'm more amazed at the people that can't say thank you. Or when I say thank you, is it so hard to say your welcome? What has happen to common courtesy?

It's for a safety reason. It's not safe for people to stay in the wheelchairs/ECVs. If people stay in them, it's usually because they can't transfer to a seat. If they can, then they really are supposed to transfer to another seat.

PEOPLE WHO FEED THE BIRDS! There is nothing cute about this and it's disgusting, have you NEVER seen a bird before? Some moron was doing this at the Mexican counterservice place last week. Then came all the birds...we were trying to eat..gross!

I'm one of those people who have to stay in their wheelchairs, while riding on the bus. Even though I can transfer out of my wheelchair, it's difficult because I have balance/stability issues, due to moderate/severe scoliosis and dystonia.

People move to a seat for safety reasons. It is not always safe to remain in your wheelchair if you do not have a seat belt or harness and the driver doesn't use the seat belt for you.

I agree with the comment abot the spray bottles. I hate them as well. I really don't want people spraying my controller for my wheelchair. It costs too much to replace.

I'm not giving up my seat for a child who can stand either. Elderly, pregnant woman, baby, yes. You want your child to sit, wait for the next bus like I do.
