I'm sure this topic has come up before... But where does everyone buy their pets medication? More specifically flea treatments like revolution, front line, advantage, etc. It's almost time for me to get another 6 month supply for our animals - I am currently buying from the vet. But it occured to me that they may not have the best price. Duh right? So I started hunting around online...

Do any of the companies like 1800petmeds do discount codes if you sign up for an email list? Any other suggestions?

Thanks! :)

I usually buy them from drugstore.com when they are on sale (this site will also give a back a percentage of all I spend to be used shopping the next quarter). I also shop through Quick Rewards to get another 6% cash back.

valuevet.com I've never seen lower prices online and they are nice to work with. I've been using them for about 10 years with no problems. I've got 2 dogs and one has hip displasia so I spend about $800/year just on meds.

i buy from petmeds i get a 10% discount through work and then they email you dicounts all the time. The only thing that is annoying is that our vet makes it as difficult as possible to get the prescription to buy from them. He refuses to fax the prescription to them so i have to drive to his office to pick it up (he is a half hour away), then he only fills it out for 1 month, when our one dog is special needs and takes medicine everyday. Now he said that he wont fill it out anymore and wants us to get her blood work done every month. Even petmeds recognized our problem and sent us a list of vets in the area that are happy to help us get her medicine through them. So just as a warning not all vets go along with getting cheaper medicine so you might have to switch.

everytime we picked up the prescription he had the reception issue out a "warning" saying that petmeds steals their medicine and thats why it is so cheap so we are supporting theft...haha he was a real psycho about it. I'm glad we dont go there anymore.

I have used PetcareRX. They have good prices and fast service. They also offer pet points that you can use against future purchases!

Thanks for your tips everyone... turns out the best price for what we use is amazon - and I would've never thought to look there.

It couldn't hurt to check and see if they pricematch. At least through your veterinarian the products are guarenteed by the manufacturer. Worth a try.

What a great question. I use Revolution and the price for me has gone up. I asked an Internet friend who is a vet about using discount pet med services and she said that she was not comfortable with them because she does not know the control processes in place for storage and temp etc. She also indicated concern about counterfeit drugs from some places. Of course as a Vet I am sure that she would want people to order their drugs from Vets...but what keeps your vet from ordering from one of the discount places?

Right now I am paying a higher price, but only because I am scared to death of heartworm medication failure. ( Dog getting heartworms.)

I have been buying revolution for our cats from pets-megastore.com which is based in Australia. We have had no problems and the product is the same as in the US, only the packaging is slightly different. We had trouble getting the vet to release the prescription so we decided to go this route. The package I bought today comes out to $9.30 per application which is a LOT cheaper than our vet. If anybody knows of a place to buy it cheaper than that let me know!

We have a similar situation with our vet! She makes it nearly impossible to use the online pet pharmacies! One of our dogs has been really sick for years and she's on the older side though, so we just aren't comfortable switching her vet. The other though, we just go to Petco to get his shots and things, etc. Why do some vets get psycho about this? Stop charging ridiculous unreasonable prices for things and you won't have this problem. They take advantage of the fact that they think people will pay ANYTHING for their dogs. Clearly its not only the "people" healthcare industry that is nuts :lmao:

I knwo you said you've already ordered, but just wanted to throw another vote up for PetcareRX. Especially since you can also get 12% back from Ebates.

I don't know how the prices compare but depending on the drug, don't forget to check people pharmacies, too!

I go to petsgohere.com They by far have the cheapest prices I have found. If you use the coupon code save5 you can save 5%. I
have seen them selling on Amazon and on Ebay.
