If we are bringing our cat who will never leave the motorhome, do we have to be in a pretty loop or is that just for dogs / pets who will be outside?

Your cat is a pet that should stay in a pet loop per the rules. Here is a Fort map with the pet loops indicated.

See post #9.
Show us the link where the "inside vs. outside" or "dog vs. cat" difference matters. popcorn:: You put the onus on yourself.

Ps - IIRC it's a whole $5 a day for a pet fee extra. Is that going to be a financial burden? Or can you tell us why you deserve special consideration....

By the rules, pets are pets so you'll need to reserve pet loop in order to keep to this.

I have seen some cats at the Fort over the years, owners actually walking them on leashes.

I would call The Fort and let them make the decision. I know someone that brought a cat years ago and they purposely put them in a non- pet loop.

Please play nice - the OP asked a simple question.

Have you ever tried to walk a cat??? More like dragging or pulling. Our cat wouldn't go out that door for love or money. He goes every time we go to the fort. We always bring dogs so we pay for pets. I would call FW and about just a cat.
Happy early Independance Day... Everyone please stay vigilant and safe.

97 days till we are back.

Wow. I heard this board was friendly. Guess I was wrong!

I was not asking this in a "the rules don't apply to me" type manner. It was a legitimate question because all of the information I had seen about the pet loops referred to cleaning up after your pet OUTSIDE, and keeping your DOG on a leash, and the proximity to the DOG play area. And I couldn't find any link where it specified dog vs cat (vs pot-belly pig for that matter) so after my search failed to give the information I was looking for, I came to this board to see if anyone could give the the proper information so I could do the right thing.

Out of deference to Jackie and Denise and our other Administrators and Moderators whom I respect, I will play nice.

I answered your question and asked for a Disney link regarding otherwise. Your question did come across to me as regarding the rule.

Since you provided none, here is the Disney link regarding the pet policy at Fort Wilderness (it wasn't hard to find):

https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/resorts/campsites-at-fort-wilderness-resort/ (expand the Pet Friendly Policy link). I will paste the contents below:

Pet-Friendly Policy

Furry friends are welcome to join your family’s camping adventure as long as the following conditions are met.

  • All pets must be kept on a handheld leash that is 8 feet or shorter or confined in the interior of the owner’s climate-controlled personal recreational vehicle. Pets are not permitted in tents and pop-up campers.
  • Guests with pet privileges may take their dogs to play in the off-leash Waggin' Trails Dog Park or walk the many on-leash trails. So that our Guests with pets can enjoy ample time at the Walt Disney World theme parks and destinations, day and overnight kennel care is available at Best Friends Pet Care.
  • Pet owners are required to pick up after and properly dispose of their pet's droppings.
  • Pets that interfere with the quality of the Guest experience at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground in any away (such as aggression, noise, etc.) or generate a legitimate complaint to management will result in the pet owner being required to discontinue the pet's inappropriate behavior, remove the pet to an off-site kennel, or leave the Resort.
The only dog reference is regarding the Dog Park over by loop 300-otherwise they revert to the generic "pet" reference. Many pet owners have been known to enjoy a nice day outside and sit outside their units and enjoy the surroundings and they put their pet outside in a pen or cage or otherwise outside. I have also highlighted the portion of the policy regarding pets that stay inside all the time (which specifically addresses your situation as you described it).

I hope this provides some new info for you. It is pretty clear.

Thank you! (Sincerely, not sarcastically) That information was what I was hoping to find when I posted here. I obviously overlooked that bolded phrase which is why I asked the question.

As Denise said, though, I would certainly call the Fort and let them make the call. It's my understanding that ANY loop could end up as a Pet Friendly Loop depending upon the current demand/needs, so the bigger issue is the $5/day fee.

I would be prepared to be in a (typical) pet friendly loop and to pay the fee. If, however, with your conversation with the CMs, they allow otherwise, then, so much the better for you.

NO; ANY loop is not a Pet loop. That is incorrect information. There are pet loops and NON-pet loops. Everyone should do the responsible thing and make sure they are in the proper type of loop for their needs. That is the only way for the two to co-exist.

No loop is guaranteed to be non-pet. If a guest has paid their additional pet fee Disney is obligated to give them a site. If the pet loops are full, then they can provide a site on a non-pet loop. So if demand exceeds the available pet loop sites you CAN have a pet on a typically non-pet loop.

Otherwise Joe from Montana drives all the way to Disney with his trusty poodle and arrives to have no site to park in, after paying extra for it.

So yes, the information is correct though, thankfully, it doesn't happen excessively.

When there are too many pet reservations made Disney DOES move pet owners to the non-pet loops.

When the rules are ignored, and someone gets hurt in a Non-pet area (ex. Sick from allergies or a dog bites, etc) Disney will be sued over it and then they will have to consider going back to the days of No Pets at Ft Wilderness. When people who bring their pets keep pushing the limits, they are really only sealing their own fates.

Not trying to :stir: here, but Disney 'can' know, if they want to, how many pet ressie sites they have in the system before over scheduling, just like they tell you they have nothing available for your dates for any other site when full.

I have no desire to hear barking while trying to relax to the 'sounds' of Disney and nature. Hopefully, they will try to keep the areas separate as they state when you make ressies so that all can be happy. They clearly 'say' when we make our ressies (just made some) that we will be in a preferred 'pet free' loop (their words).

Yes, know all dogs aren't allowed to bark at everything, also while their owners are gone - wish all were :)

Please let's not turn this into another pet loop/non-pet loop discussion. The Search Function is available if you want to rehash all that old ground.

I tried to keep my fanny out of "ban land" and wish the same for you.

Ed is correct, this always happens with any thread dealing with animals.

It typically gets derailed into the heated discussion of pet friendly vs. non-pet friendly.

Point is, cats are pets and if taking the cat the appropriate thing to do is request a pet loop.

We have actually been put in non pet loops. They knew we had our pup months ahead of time. We also paid our pet fee. It was The Fort's decision to place us in the site/loop they did. So please don't assume people are skirting the pet rules/fees.
I'll let WDW's lawyers worry about about anything that might be a lawsuit. That's why they make the big bucks.
