My precious Eliza (see her to the left?) has a rare liver condition (a shunt?). She is currently on two meds and a special liver diet: Hills Science Prescription L/D. Once we get her stabilized and healthy, she will need surgery. After making sure that she will survive and the risks of surgery, the surgery will cost about $5,000-$6,000.

She will be on meds and this special diet for a while.
Anyone know if there is a way I can save a little on the Lactolose and food?

You can see if the lactulose is cheaper at a people pharmacy- maybe try target, walmart, cosrtco, etc. maybe one of them is offering an incentive for a new prescription. Get your vet to write a prescription and fillit at the people pharmacy.m My dog's prednisone is WAY cheaper at the people pharmacy. You can check online for the food. Our dog has allergies so it is not as complicated as your dog's illness. We were able to switch her to Dick van Pattens limited ingredient food at Pet Supplies plus instead of the 80dollar science diet.We are still paying 40-50 for 18lbs.

Forgot to add.Check with your state's universities. The ones that have vet schools do big surgeries and are lot's of times less expensive than at a private vet. They have way more experience with complicated things.
