Hi all,
Can you tell me about your experience with using a pet-friendly hotel nearby Disneyland? For example, was there quick and easy access outside your room to go for walks, are there stairs nearby, is there a grassy area nearby for potties, and how noisy was it?
My husband and I brought our dog, Slinky, along with us for a 3 night mid-May trip. We stayed in a 1-bedroom suite at the Residence Inn at the Convention Center. The room was great (quiet, large, we turned on 1 of the TV's for ambient noise, etc), but we did not have super quick/easy access to outdoors for frequent walks. We were on the 3rd or 4th floor (I requested a low level). It turns out my dog is super scared of elevators, so we would take him down a set of stairs to go outside, but then we'd either carry him into the elevator to go up OR text each other to meet near the exterior stairs entrance. The stairs are kept locked from the outside which added that complication.
We are debating where out dog would be happiest for our next trip which will be 3-4 nights. We could:
1) Bring him along and find a hotel with quick/easy access to outdoors for him. He enjoys sleeping in the bed with us and generally being around us, but I feel bad when I leave him for a few hours. Note that I generally visit the parks from 8-12, then 5-9, or so. I spend the afternoon at the hotel with him and we get plenty of walkies in. I bought a pricey Gunner Kennel for our last drive to DL so he's super safe in the car.
2) Send him to his usual doggie daycare with overnight boarding, although he gets unhappy doing overnights there and he doesn't eat much which concerns us. I don't think he'd enjoy 3-4 nights there to be honest.
3) Hire a petsitter for our home so he could stay at home all day with access to sunbathing in our yard, etc. I've already reached out to a few professional sitters- some are full and not accepting new clients, and one lady is non-responsive. We have a friend who comes by to cat sit (she's not a dog person) so this would be nice to have 1 person watch all the fur kids.
Sorry to get off topic, but please let me know your thoughts about local pet-friendly hotels!
