Pet friendly hotel recommendations

We have some Orlando attraction tickets, dinner shows, & meals that we've already paid for, and we're going over for a couple long weekends to use them, before they expire. We usually either take our RV to Fort Wilderness, or stay on property at Universal. Since the things we have tickets for are all over Orlando, we're thinking that it would make more since to stay in a somewhat central location. Although, alot of the meals are vouchers to use on WDW property. Also, it costs too much in gas to take the RV for short stays. Any suggestions for reasonably priced, nice hotels, that are pet friendly? All suggestions appreciated!

I'm only aware of the Universal resorts as pet friendly (but apparently you already know that), however, if you key in your dates over at hotelkingdom.com it will bring up a variety of available hotels. All the pet friendly hotels have a little dog logo after their names. If you pick a few of them that are in the price range you're looking for, then you could get some feedback here on specific hotels.

I believe the Marriott Residence Inns allow pets. Extra fee, of course.

Quality inn, comfort etc also allow pets..check out choice hotels and do an advanced search putting pets allowed as an option. There is a variety of price ranges not sure what dates your looking at and how much you are looking at spending. Ex: MainStay Suites Maingate is nice and allows pets for $10.00 a night, they have scheduled service to all the parks (free) and deluxe continental breakfast.. Rooms run about 89.00-100.00.

All the Universal hotels allow pets, but I also found a website last night that lists hotels in diff cities that allow them www.pets-allowed-hotels.com.

Some of the pages haven't been updated in awhile, but alot of times it takes you directly to the hotel site, which lists their pet restrictions. I was surprised at how many, and some without extra charges!

Thanks for all the suggestions. We're planning our 1st weekend trip for Feb. 4th to Feb. 6th. We would like to find a nice, clean hotel in the $100.00 range. I have been checking out some different sites, & am really surprised at how much some of the hotels cost for the quality. We have stayed at all 3 Universal resorts, and think the rate is in line with the quality of the resort. Since we won't be going to Universal at all, we were hoping to save some money by staying elsewhere. It seems that the hotels that allow pets, but do not have a prime theme park location are too pricey, for what you get. Is it just me? (I.E. $129 to $149 for a Sheraton hotel in the 1st of Feb.) I'll check out the site listed. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. BTW, DH & I both would rather pay $50 a night more for a room, than be charged a pet fee of any kind. I know that sounds crazy, but our "4 legged baby girl" has never harmed a hotel room in any way. Just a matter of principle. TIA

I was checking out the site, & noticed pet fees like $5 a night. Even we're not that crazy. Of course, we'd be willing to pay an extra $5 a night, or a $25 one time fee. Just thought I'd clarify. Also, I would love to hear some personal experiences at any of these hotels. Thanks again!

Just would like to say that it's best to call the hotel directly before reserving a room on-line if you have a medium or large dog--many of the hotels do not say in the on-line literature that they have weight limits--some as low as 20 pounds.

We have never brought our animals to any hotels in Orlando as we have a trusted pet sitter. However, we did bring our dog to a Residence Inn locally when we had to evacuate the house before a hurricane, and it was very nice but pricey.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll definitely make the call, before booking. I know that some of the websites say pets are allowed, but the hotel says "no". Boardwalk Inn, Swan, & Dolphin are a few. BTW, we have a 12 lb. mini-pin.

Homewood Suites in Kissimmee is a great place to stay. Embassy Suites in LBV is beautiful, but pricier. Both are Hilton hotels.

Unless I'm doing something wrong, I couldn't seem to find any availability at Homewood Suites. I think I have narrowed it down to either Holiday Inn Sunspree or Residence Inn Sea World. Cleanliness is the most important factor for us. What do you think? Thanks again

Another to consider is La Quinta Inn Lakeside.

I have stayed at La Quanita Lakeside - this is an older resort.

there is also the La Quanita Maingate - much newer.

You could try Celebration World Resort - it is a timeshare - so for a week reservations it might be cheaper. there pet fee is $50 for a week.

the Renaissance at Seaworld now has pet rooms. This is an older hotel - but a beautiful one. Don't remember what the pet fee was?

if you go with any of these - be sure to call the resort before you arrive and tell them you have a pet.....very important - otherwise you will be charged extra for the extra cleaning fee - some places that have pets - only allow them in certain rooms or areas.
