O.K., so you guys know that on Tuesday night, DS (6 yo) had his first experience with the death of a loved one. That is, his betta fish passed away.
When he came home from school yesterday, he opened his folder to show me what he did during Aftercare. He said, Look, Mommy. I made a card for Bluey. Its his memorial.
He drew a picture of an empty fish bowl with a big cross above it. The cross emanated sunbeams, and he drew a few clouds around it. On each side of the fish bowl, he drew an angel. Then in one corner, he drew a purple heart with a blue fish in the middle. In the other corner, he wrote the date (October 8, 2002) that we discovered Bluey was dead.
He started crying when he showed it to me; it was all I could do to keep from laughing out loud and/or crying with him.
I hung the picture on our refrigerator; its definitely something to keep for the future.
