I remember years ago seeing a kennel at an entrance to WDW. It was many years ago, so I guess either it is gone or I use a different entrance now.

Does anyone know if it still exists? Now that I live in Central Florida, I would be interested in using it to board my two pooches.

Thanks for any info :smooth:

It still exists. I believe we saw the kennel on the road near FW. I've never used them, I believe pets fare better in familiar surroundings and have used a pet sitter to take care of mine. Be aware that from what I've heard Disney's kennels are nothing special. Just cages and small runs.

There is a kennel at each park and a Kennel at Ft. Wilderness. They run $6.00 a day for Resort guests, $9.00 over night, but you have to come walk your pet, except at the epcot Kennel, where you can pay $2.50 for a walk. Make sure your pet is current on ALL vacinations as a letter from your vet will be required.

Yes, WDW does have the kennels but I've heard bad things about them and prefer to board mine here at home with an establishment they are comfortable with and can run around and play. I have heard that the pets are put into a small cage and it is your responsibility to go back and forth to feed them and walk them if need be.

We just kenneled both of our dogs (5 year old Jack Russell Terrier & 1 year old Yellow Lab) at the FW kennels.

The crates they use are much larger than the ones we have for them at home - they can actually walk around in them (even the 85 lb. lab). They feed them (your own food if you bring it). They have fresh water all the time. If they soil as my JRT tends to do when excited, they clean up and put fresh linen.

Yes, we had to go and walk them (we were told some people never show up during their whole stay and the dogs obviously soil their crates and the kennel personnel have to clean up after them. These people should be found and told to take their pets out of the kennel IMO). We did 3 times a day. Since they are home alone all day when we work (and are kenneled), this was actually much better for them. Each time you take them for a walk, they clean, disenfect, and put fresh linens in the crate. Both furbabies loved it there.

my baby, Spicey, is 19 year old and has always been a picky eater - therefore I feed him - just to make sure he eats.

the CM will feed your pet, if you want them too.

Only EPcot will walk your pet.

you need to walk your pet at least twice more at EPcot - or three times at the other places.

this gives the CM a chance to clean out the cages, replacing water and food, and the towels that they like to give the animals to lie down on.

on the dog side there are several different size of cages. - the biggest ones are on the bottom.

all the cages are priced the same.

don't put your animal here if you aren't going to walk him. there are other kennels in the area that will be happy if you never visit your pet - the WDW kennels won't.

they don't have the people. the FW kennel generally only has one or two people there. FW also has the horseback riding and during special times - the special halloween ride. I think it does the carriage rides too.

that is alot by itself for 1 person - add the kennels - you can see why they don't have alot of time for your pet.

Epcot generally has 4 people - so it can walk your pet.

Spicey loves FW and stays there often.

Only FW and EPcot really have the room to walk your animal. Studios and AK don't.

the one for the MK is at TTC and it does have room to walk your animal - but behind it is the bus depot - some animals don't mind the noise and smell from this - other do.

You know your animal best!!!

if you think it will be fine here - then do it - WDW has one of the best rating in the business and the people do care. However if you can't walk your pets - best to look elsewhere.

www.abka.org

remember to look in Lake Buena Vista (where WDW is), Kissimmee and Orlando.

if you aren't staying at a WDW resort then the overnight charge at WDW is $11 per cage (not per pet). otherwise - $9 per cage.

and yes in the bigger cages I have seem 2 German Shepherds together - I won't do this - but I guess if your pets are used to being together it might help.

Actually just boarded mine last month.

Great place!

We boarded for the day, everyday at the TTC. We took him back to an offsite hotel with us at night.

While I dont think he would want to be in there overnight, he did fine during the day.

The crates are HUGE! if they are not full, which they rarely are (we went the busiest time Ive EVER seen WDW and they were maybe 10% full.

The staff was nicer to him than any place we've ever boarded him.

The price is $6.00 whether you are a resort guest or not.

They monitor the dogs and if they are nervous they will take them out and love on them, regardless of whether they claim they "walk them" or not.

Ours was behind the counter and the desk laying on his bed when we came to pick him up. they said he seemed a little nervous, so they just let him run around in an enclosed area with the clerk.

They are not "cages" like some say. They are smooth, hard plastic, BIG crates.

The big ones are big enough to where your dog can EASILY get up and walk around, especially if smaller. My dog is 18 pounds. If they are not full, simply ask to put your dog in a bigger kennel.

For those of you that have used it recently, do you know what number I would call to make my ressies? The cm I got on the regular number didnt know .

thanks again

I boarded my two babies in February and plan to board them again next weekend at the Epcot kennel. I really enjoyed having them nearby and visiting them throughout the day. I was told you do not need reservations because between the 5 kennels there will be room at the kennels.

They let you bring their favorite bedding, so be sure to remember it.
