Nooooo.... This post has more ups & downs to it than Space Mountain.

I'm almost afraid to look. Nothing here yet either way since the location email. I'm so sorry for those receiving letters of doom. Pixie Dust to everyone still waiting...

Disney-Kim, I was under the impression that I was getting a brick because of the email from Dean giving my location. If I'm not getting one, they owe me $295!

Well, I am now home and in the mail was an envelope from Magic Kingdom Park. Inside was the letter of doom, dated 6/8/07, and my faxed application was attached.

However, it was my second faxed application (from June 4th), not the first. When I was unable to verify that the first charge had been made, I faxed another application with different credit card information. Of course, later in the day the first charge showed up on the first card. I immediately sent a follow-up fax canceling the second application/credit card info - which they evidently didn't match up to that fax.

Since 1] the original card was charged, 2] the original application wasn't returned, and 3] the charge has not been reversed as of a few minutes ago, I'm still struggling to remain optimistic about this whole thing. I must admit there have been some low moments, but until I have the first app returned, I will continue smiling (okay; gritting my teeth makes it look like I'm smiling).

Did you (Or any other Letter of Doomer's) receive the email from Dean that said you DID get a brick (for your 1st one)? I am wondering if they are going back on THAT email now? Or, are they just sending the bad letters to those that didn't get the email?

I haven't gotten the cert or dreaded letter yet, but I'm almost expecting it. For some reason my card was charged THREE times. Dean is/was aware of it and said they were going to reverse two of the charges. I'm still waiting. If they don't come off in another week, I'm going to let the CC company know to stop those. BUT I'm guessing even if I get the brick I've been told I'm getting, I may be getting the dreaded letter due to the other two charges.

I think it would be good to find out if anyone receiving the Letter of Doom got the e-mail saying they were getting a brick, and did NOT send an additional application (via fax or e-mail) - other than TyRy's triple-charge issue.

I don't think anyone has confirmed this situation yet...

I DID receive an envelope from WDW, but it was my DDE card...

I don't think we have anything to worry about if we've received an email from Dean. I had sent in an email expressing my concern and also got a phone call from someone in the exec offices saying that YES I was getting a brick. I think we just all need to be patient and wait for our certs to come in. I'd be VERY surprised if they canceled our orders after confirming we were getting a brick. That would be even more of a nightmare for them then what they've already had to go through.

Good to know, If you posted this before I missed it. Your follow up call is the first positive response I have heard of anyone getting officially since the emails. Wow, it looks like I'm going to hit the 1000 posts mark on this subject! I hope it's to say something positive!!

To clarify (this is not quite the situation Doconeill described), although my credit card was charged based on my first fax, I did not receive an e-mail confirming a brick. The letter of doom was the first communication from WDW.

If there's a Diser out there who wouldn't mind sharing Dean's email address (via PM), I may actually contact them directly to try to sort this out.

This is what happened to us. It may be happening to others.

At the end of May, we faxed in our application for a 'brick.' Early in June (6/4) the charge had not yet posted on our credit card, so we sent a second application using a different credit card in case there had been a problem of some sort with the first one (those DVC add-ons add up). Later that day, the charge posted on the first credit card and we faxed again to retract the second application. (This fax evidently was never matched to the June 4th fax with the second credit card - see below.)

Yesterday we received the dreaded letter but with our second fax attached.

With the assistance of a couple of Disers, I contacted Dean/Denise at WDW. Dean promptly responded with our pathstone number and told us that a certificate of authenticity and map of the pathstone location would be forthcoming.

I hope others will find this scenario to be true for them.

I DID receive an envelope from WDW, but it was my DDE card...

I got the "Letter of Doom" and nothing else. No credit card charges and no emails.

I also posted my reassuring news a while back, but I'll post again

After the initial, VERY generic email with my brick location, I emailed Dean and asked directly if this was legit, since there had been so many rumors. His response was

"You will be getting a pathstone. Everything else is just rumor".

At least I have this as proof!

I got the letter of doom today also.........but as I hadn't received an email or had my CC charged I was expecting it.

I saw this thread 30th May and telephoned immediately. I spoke to Dean who assured me he was selling paving stones in the MK "right now" and was going to email me the application form and legal document straight away. Well, I never received it and began to wonder if in my great excitement I had given him my email address incorrectly ~ it was my birthday that day and it was going to be my birthday present! I tried to contact Dean again on the same telephone number but it was always the answer message and although I left a couple of messages they weren't returned so I contacted a DISer through this thread who kindly emailed me the forms. I faxed them on 31st May but soon came to realise from this thread that I was going to be one of the unlucky ones ~ I guess the reason I never received the email from Dean is that the plug was pulled on this before he got chance to send it.

Although I am disappointed I won't be getting a brick I am grateful that I managed to do Leave A Legacy at Epcot in April. I am more annoyed at the thought that I visited MK several times in March/April ~ if only I had known that there was a kiosk there I probably would have struck lucky! I probably even walked past it!

Anyway, congratulations to all of you who have been lucky ~ I hope your certificates arrive soon.

And I still have no idea why...

BTW, I scanned the certificate and blocked out my personal info., but you can clearly see the date it was issued. I will be uploading this to the DIS Photo Gallery, so if anyone wants to see it, it will be there shortly. I plan on removing it later this evening.

My certificate from 1994 does not show a date on the brick. I guess they changed it. The date is not on my brick, but the year is inside the Mickey head.
