I ask this because I do not. I am not bragging, but it's true. I look 10 years or more younger than I am. Now, I am not complaining. Well, maybe I am. Not about looking younger, but about why people don't believe me. It gets a little wearing everytime I meet someone new and mention my kids (20 and 21) or that I've been married for 22 years, and I am not to be believed. Why would I lie about that? I was just cast in a play and we got to talking last night about ourselves, you know, getting to know each other. I mentioned I was going to Kansas to spend my daughter's birthday with her. I was asked if she lives with her dad there, and I said no, I live with her dad, she's a senior in college in Manhattan, KS. I was not believed. I had to get out my driver's license to prove I was telling the truth.

Don't get me wrong, I'd rather look younger than my age or older, but it gets so annoying when I have to argue everytime I meet someone new. I may get a shirt that says, "Over 40 and proud of it."

Does anyone else have this problem? Or am I just thin-skinned and should count my blessing and get over it? How about any of you, do you look your age?

I don't think so, I think I look older, only a couple of years though.

Most people think I'm at least 30, I'm 27.

I like to think it's because I'm mature

nope no one believes Im 31.

I dont think I look particulalry young but I got carded the other day :teeth: and she had to double check my liscense :)

ps I dont think you look your age either but I wouldnt ever make you prove it ;)

tc,
I always get that "gee, you don't look that OLD" making me feel like a dinosaur when people find out I have a 22 year old, they all think I'm 10 years younger. Of course, when she was born people would say "isn't that nice, you're babysitting" because I looked too young to be a mom.
Like you, I don't mind the compliment, but the way people say it can be downright annoying. And, how are you supposed to respond "thank you that I look young" or "thank you that now you think I'm old as the hills?"

Some people think I'm in my early to mid 20's, I'm 33. I think I look my age.

I can vouch here that Kelli is telling the 100 percent truth! She looks younger than me!! My DH couldn't believe she had two children in their 20s. He is still amazed! ....thats why you should try out for Sandy! I can only wish to look as great as you do in 10 years!

I guess I look 31......I still get I.D.ed every now and then at the Casinos but I think they do that for anyone under 50!

I look younger & always have.

Binny, I was carded at an R rated show when I was pregnant with Kimmi. I was 22, they thought I was not yet 17, that really made me mad. I don't drink, but Stephen says if I ever ordered one, he'd guarantee me I'd get carded.

suzannen: I know how you feel. When my kids were little it was always assumed the my girls were my sisters. They looked like me, but no one figured I was old enough to have them. I agree, you definately don't know how to take it, compliment or not?

Beth, you are too kind. If everyone were as sweet as you about how young I look, that would be great. You all knew my age before we met, and just complimented me on how great I looked. There was no disbelief, just niceness. Everyone is not like that.

I'm always told I look younger than my age of 32, more so now since I have lost 30 pounds. Professionally I think it is a bad thing. Since I am soon to be back in the dating game I am hoping that it will be a good thing socially. One can hope at least. ;)

I just turned 50 in December and most people think I'm in my 40's. I guess 50 sounds SO OLD. You're as young as you feel...

I don't look a day over 40. :teeth:

(the bad news is I'm 38! :p )

I used to HATE it when I was a kid and everyone used to tell me that I'd love it when I'm older...

I DO!! :teeth:

Ummmm, I guess so -- but I'm a bad judge of these things, so you'd have to tell me!

So, how old do I look? (Those of you who know my age -- be quiet! :p :teeth: )

I look much younger than I am. I am 23, but I routinely get told that I look 14! Now I realize that I look young, but come on people--I don't look like an 8th grader! :teeth: It has been really interesting since I got engaged. Every time a stranger finds out that I'm engaged, they give me a strange look. So now I have just started saying, "I'm really 23, not 12." :teeth:

Steve, I'll take a wild guess and say you are 30.

Yep, Snoopy, on the button (Nicole's 30 as well -- she definitely doesn't look her age, though. :))

Once in awhile I get mistaken for someone 18-21... It depends on how I dress and my make up etc. I think it's kind of funny...

I agree that professionally it can be a bad thing. I am rarely taken seriously and my opinion is not taken in account often. I think part of that is my personality, but part is that I look younger and a young person doesn't seem to get as much respect as someone who is older.

tc you are just so darned cute, you're just a little pixie. Be happy that you look younger than your age, that's a good thing.

My son thinks I look younger than 53 but he loves me and is prejudiced. I imagine I look my age.
