Hi All,

We will be travelling with extended family in Nov 5-12. Our party is Dad 85 Mom 80, myself, Sister, BIL and my two nephews ages 5 and 7.

Mom & Dad live with me and while I am at work & play they have a wonderful Personal Care Aide through a liscensed agency.

While at Disney we would like to use care aid services for Monday thru Friday of our trip for about 8 to 9 hours per day.

I've done some research an come up with three possible agencies, Lifting Hearts, Visiting Angels and Right at Home. All of them state they are liscensed & bonded and employee their aids ,They are all about the same price.

Does anyone have experices with any of those agencies or any other agency in Orlando ?

I think your best bet is to talk to each of the places and ask a lot of questions specific to your needs and then pick one. Check the Better Business Bureaus ratings or anyone elses reviews that you can trust. You may be able to get some people reviews by searching the web.

If they are staying in the room then it's a little less expensive and easier. I could be wrong, but I think the personal aids expects to get a meal paid for if she/he is taking them for a meal. If they are doing an activity like going to a park, then you pay the way for the aid. I believe they also expect mileage; it's not close at all to get in and out of Disney. I believe some charge a flat rate and some do a mileage rate.

There are day care adult centers that may be an option, but then you need to probably transport them back and forth. I wish I could be more help. Although, it's a drag you may have to take turns and since there are three of you this may not be too bad. You can break it up as 4 hour sessions or take turns by day or whatever.

Would you consider taking one of their aids from home with you? My dad had in home care for a while and we had several that were wonderful. While we were unable to travel during that time, we did take a few with us for things like restaurant meals or family parties. We paid for any expenses they had. Will your parents be able to join you in the park? Are they able to be left alone at all?
