I wish I were lying but my DH's car has gotten 3 flat tires in the past year alone, and we've had to replace one very expensive Rim. It's a BMW 330xi 2006.

We had an unusually bad winter and the potholes were terrible. The car though just seems to take any hole in the road exceptionally rough. We used to have the run flat tires on but they seemed to take rough road even worse and they cost so much money we just couldn't afford replacing them one after the next.

The car doesn't get driven much, a few hundred miles a month, but I took it out this AM and the flat tire warning light came on. I came home but didn't see a flat after checking the pressure so I reset the system. If there is another flat, I am seriously planning on trading the car in for good.

Are we the only ones who have this type of bad luck with this car series?

I had a problem with my scion xb.... same thing.... what they did was re-seal the bead around the edge, and all is well now. At least I believe that is what they told me.

Sport suspension, low profile tires and a really nasty winter leaving potholes everywhere are unfortunately a recipe for exactly what you are experiencing. Some places offer road hazard coverage when you buy a new tire from them...would recommend it if you are finding it so much of an inconvenience. The other thing I might throw out there is a need to be a little bit more aware of the road conditions and try to remember where the potholes are and possibly even not follow the vehicle in front too closely in order to give you a bit more reaction time to avoid the potholes.

Other than that not much more you can do.

Sometimes the pressure light goes on when the weather changes because air pressures need to be changed, I don't think the warning is just for flats. I'd start there because it happens to me all the time here in Pa., the PSI numbers should be either in the manual or, I think, printed somewhere inside the drivers door.

Also, can I ask, did you get the tire repaired or replace it? If it was a repair it could be that whoever did the repair just didn't do a good job, I'd bring it in somewhere else and see what they say.

The tire pressure light goes on in our Subaru Outback when we start the car and it's cold (like below 5degrees). :lmao: well, uh, winter in Vermont...

Are you sure your tire pressures are set correctly? If they are not right, it might make the tires more apt to go flat:confused3

Have you googled to see if there is some known issue with this type of car/tire? Perhaps there's a manufacturer's service alert or a recall that you don't know about/

Then you need to adjust your tire pressure. The light isn't on because it is cold out. The light is on because your tire pressure is low. Your tire pressure is low because it is cold out. Tire pressure decreases when it is cold out and increases when it is hot out.

Hmmm...well, the dealership checked it and said everything is okay, so I'm not going to worry about it. And it won't be that cold again for a while ;)
