permanent makeup

I've never done this but I know some women who have. It looks fine on all of them, but it does fade after a while so if you're looking for a truly "permanent" eye liner, this won't quite do it but it'll be close. All the women I know have only had the eye liner done, nothing else.

I've always wanted to get my eyebrows filled in a bit because they're kind of sparse at the ends. I have eyebrows, pretty bushy ones but once they're shaped theres a few spots I'd love filled in.

I haven't found a place I trust yet with lots of reviews but make sure you ask for references!! Any good place should be happy to either show you photos, give you numbers of people who have had it done, or let you meet with people who've had it done.

My SIL got her eyebrows done and she loves it.

I had eyeliner done about 4 years ago. They did it and then touched it up a few months later. I love it! I tried the semi permanent lashes and wasn't thrilled with them so now I use Latisse.
I have very little vision in one eye so this has been a great alternative to asking DH to apply my eye make up.:scared1:

By any chance do you live in Mass?

My old co-worker had it done. Her MIL did it so she had it done for free. It looked fine imo but it wasn't something I was interested in really.

My mutha had her eyebrows and eyeliner done. With any tattoo, expect it to fade and need to be touched up. Its something I'd never be interested in but she loved it. Now it looks like faded pen.

I have never done this, but do have a co-worker that has. She got it done 12 years ago (she is now 62). It has definitely faded and also looks like faded pen around her eyes. She had her eyebrows and lips done also. She has beautiful white hair now, but her eyebrows are still black because of the tattoo. Her lip color has faded tremendously, but the lip liner is still very evident.

I am sure it looked great when she first got it done, but 12 years later (no touch-ups that I know of), it does not look so hot. She doesn't look crazy by any means, but it looks like faded tattoos.

I would suggest, like with any tattoo, make sure it is something you want forever and are willing to put extra money into. I'm too squeamish to let someone come at my face with a needle. :rotfl:

I had eyeliner done about 8 years ago and love it. It has faded and I'll have it re-done in the next year or so. My lashes are light at the base, then get dark so the eyeliner is perfect. I also had a very thin line done, so it's an 'everyday' type of look, to kick it up for 'fancy' I add regular liner.

Yes, it's a tattoo, what else would be permanent?

I would love the eye liner. But someone please be honest, how bad does it hurt? And how long did it take to get done?

A truly good permanent makeup artist will have you in and out in 30 mins. That is with the numbing up process and application. You have to use sunblock on your eyeliner or it will fade drastically. The stick baby sunscreen is what is suggested. Just breathe and you will not have to worry about the pain. It is over and done with so quickly.

I always wanted to have my eyebrows done but never did.

It took about 45 minutes total. No pain at all. They use a topical anesthetic.
Yeah, it fades but I apply real eyeliner for a more defined look if going out well dressed. For everyday, it is great!

Honestly, I have a couple of friends that had it done in the late 80's and it doesn't look good now that they're in their late 40's and starting to age. They look better with makeup over it, otherwise look very "tired". One look and you can tell it's old tattoo makeup. Don't do it!!! How long does it take to slap on some eyeliner?

I have to agree with this too. I know a few people who did the eyeliner 10+ years ago and it's faded pretty badly. If you're willing to get it touched up every few years I don't see why you shouldn't do it.

Tattoos fade to really horrible looking greens and greyish blacks so keep that in mind. Especially on areas that are exposed to the sun.

MIL had eyeliner done and maybe eyebrows? Something else on her face was done. This was before I met her, and it always just looked garish on her.

Then she got a bit older and even she felt it was too much, and she undertook the long and PAINFUL process of having it lasered off. Sooooo many appointments, and the numbing cream didn't numb it totally...

I don't think I'd ever do it.

(and what's funny is that she is 1000% percent AGAINST tattoos, so much so that my husband didn't tell her for 10 years about his tattoos and then she only found out by accident, but she got them on her FACE.)
