Specifically - eyeliner. Has anyone ever done this? Did you like the results?

My dd (21) is interested in this - she is a contact wearer and has a lot of problems with allergies. Between the two - she has trouble keeping any kind of eye makeup on. That, and her eyesight is bad enough without the contacts in that she has difficulty applying.

She wants a very subtle look. Doesn't really want to look "made up". She is very fair & has pale lashes.

Any time I've seen it, it doesn't look subtle at all. In fact, it looks kind of trashy, especially as the person ages. But, maybe I've just not seen it done well. :confused3

Oh, and a woman on What Not to Wear who had it done said it hurt more than giving birth.

I have a friend who is a PA. She used to work for a dermatologist. She would do this procedure (permanent eyeliner) and hers looked VERY nice. Very natural, nothing dark or over the top. I at one point I considered it, but never did go through with it.

If I were your DD, I would do lots of research until I found someone I was comfortable with. Nothing like looking in the mirror and discovering you have raccoon eyes:scared1:!!!!

My aunt who will be 70 this year had this done several years ago by a plastic surgeon. She had eyebrows and eyeliner. She doesn't wear any other make-up. I think it looks natural. She has had to have it touched up several times and found a nice lady that is certified that does it for $50!

Within the last month a co-worker of mine used the same lady as my aunt, had her eyebrows and eyeliner done and I think hers looks fine as well. She actually had it re-done because it wasn't as dark as she wanted it the first time.

Tell her to get it done fairly light, then if she likes it and wants it a little darker she can have it touched up with a darker color.

3 of my aunts have had it done- I think it looks great- they just never have to put on eyeliner- it's always there. They said it didn't hurt.:confused3

I had trouble with eye make-up for the same reasons (I wore hard lenses for years) until I had LASIK two years ago. I still don't wear a lot of make-up but now I don't have any problem with it at all. I also have to say that the tattooed "make-up" I have seen has looked less than subtle.

I think it must depend on who does it. My mom has eyeliner and it looks great, anything but trashy. I am considering going to her lady but I have my DD here to do my makeup.

My MIL has the eyebrows and it is j8st horifying there are no words. My DD calls her purple eyebrows. It does NOT look good.
