I know there is a lot of talk about back agents, but we got extra perks from booking through AAA>

1.A specially designed DCL souvenir mug for each member of our part, with unlimited refills while on board to the ship and at Castaway Cay.

2 10% discount on merchandise on board at the treasure Ketch

3. 10% discount on snorkeling , bicycle and float rentals at Castaway Cay.

4. IF you Sail LAND AND SEA and you have Them Park Admission You'll enjoy AAA Diamond Card Privileges and access to the AAA VIP Lounge in the Magic Kingdom Park. and Discount on Food in Theme Parks.

5 Not to mention we got 150.00 in ship board credit. BONUS we did not expect.

Plus OUr Hotel was 64.10 plus tax instead of 99.00 for a value hotel.
Wow that was a big saving.

They are nice perks...but one of them is no longer valid since DCL now offers unlimited soda onboard at no extra charge....

I saw a few people at the Captain signing who had booked with AAA and they had a beautiful matted, framed DCL pin set....I would have loved one of those...they said it was a free gift from AAA for booking with them.

Not all AAA agencies give a gift - mine was very clear they did not

Also, there are a few catches about the 10% discounts - the CC rentals have to be prepaid on board (not on CC) - no changing your mind if, say the weather is cold, for example. No big deal for us in July but could wipe out the savings if you change your mind

The 10% in Treasure catch has to be on purchases over $75..for my family it meant planning to do a more major shoping trip rather than buying things for each person as we saw them...

Oh and the state room credit is not promised (at least according to my agent) for cruises after 2005....

In the end, I didn't book with AAA the second time around, got a better deal elsewhere. (I admit that my agent is not great but I put up with it last time...one big reason was the AAA visa...I used it extensively and saved hundreds of dollars off the cruise price when I paid the final balance....now that there is the disney visa, it just isn't enough of a factor)

Just my opinion

We looked at AAA, but they were about $300 more than expedia/travelocity/everyone else (well, except disney of course...). I'd rather have $300 than a few freebies :)

I haven't booked a cruise with AAA in 2005, but I believe they will match the printed prices of other major agencies, ao you could ask them to match one, if you're interested in their perks above just the price.

I have heard mixed stuff, but I booked in January and was told by DCL all of the feature were still available and got extra bonus by booking in January. ALso if there is a lower price printed anywhere they match it aall the way until your cruise. Believe me I keep looking.
And as for the mug refill yes it is available on the cruise and in Animal kingdom.
OUR friends just got back and got both collector mugs.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is that you get the 10% discount at the gift shops/CC if you're a AAA member, even if you don't book through them.

On the last DCL cruise I was on when I had booked thru AAA, there was an additional page inserted in my cruise documents packet that I had to present when I wanted to take advantage of the discounts. It was not my AAA card, but it was a printed page that was bound together with the other pages, on heavy card stock type paper, in the cruise docs booklet.
