My sis and I got back on the 23rd and this is the first time I've had a chance to to check my email or post anything. There's something to be said for coming back right in the middle of the Christmas season - no time for Disney-withdrawal depression! :smooth:

Anyway - I'll do a trip report later today but just for a quick review of our stays at the Dolphin and GF - in a word - MAGICAL!

Dolphin first. Well, for one thing, DS thought we were staying at Pop, so when the driver (Carlos from Quicksilver - highly recommended!) says "I'm taking you to the Dolphin, right?" I was able to say "yes" and then to little sis "Don't get too excited - our hotel is right beside the Dolphin." The light kind of went out of her eyes a little bit and I was laughing like the wicked queen in Snow White. Anyway, eventually we pull up and the secret's out! She was so excited! Check-in was a breeze - maybe 10 minutes at the most and we had a great room. 11-109 - we were looking towards the Swan but had a view of Epcot to the left and MGM to the right. The beds were indeed heavenly - all white and dreamy looking - to say nothing of comfortable! I'm currently trying to talk DH into letting me get a complete set-up for our bedroom at home. Our hallway still had the beachy theme and we loved that. I thought it was just adorable! It was late and we were tired so we ordered room service. Yummy! I had clam chowder and DS had the clam and garlic dip. Both were wonderful! Our whole stay at the hotel was just perfect! Including the fabulous gift basket I ordered from Feralpeg. It had a Tinkerbell theme - I'll post pictures if I ever get them back (there was a huge snowstorm in KY right before we got home). The walk to Epcot was fabulous! We both decided we would never stay anywhere but the Epcot area.

On to the GF. Again, another flawless check-in. CM's were nothing but helpful and sweet (although there was a man throwing a fit about something going on on the concierge floor). We were in Boca Chica with a view of the pool. OUr room was immaculate - Perfect! We loved the high ceilings and crown-moldings. Mousekeeping was wonderful! Everynight turndown service put our collectors dolls (bought at Der Teddybar in Epcot) in different positions and places. Of course, they probably thought they were amusing two little girls - but we big girls loved it anyway! I am so glad I stayed there! The ambiance did seem a little formal for a large family vacation (my family anyway) but we loved it for a girls trip. The Christmas decorations were fab! After we moved to the Magic Kingdom area we were like, "How could ever stay anywhere else?" Splitting the stay was great!

Ok - I've written too much. Any specic questions?

Oh - forgot to mention - the ultimate pixie dust!

About midnight our first night at the Dolphin my sister says, "What's that noise?" We got up and looked out the window. Fireworks everywhere from the direction of Epcot! I was really confused because I knew that Epcot had closed about 9pm that night, but sure enough, we saw one of the best fireworks shows I've ever seen! We found out later it was the test run of the New Year's Eve fireworks! Of course, we decided that it was in honor of our arrival. What a great experience!

Thanks for sharing your trip report with us! I'm glad you had such a great trip!

:)

I remember reading your posts while you were planning the trip. Is the GF everything your sister thought it would be?

I'm glad your trip was chock full of pixie dust! I love hearing about vacations where everything goes right.

Like Tabetha, I'm wondering if you were able to surprise DSis with the move over to the GF.

I am so glad to hear you both had a fabulous trip! Now please do tell about the GF surprise!

Debbie

PS... After our first trip to the Swan I had to redo all of our linens, too!

I love a pixie dust attitude, you would be amazed at how many complain when this happens to them. In fact I was at the Yacht club when they were practicing for the 4th of July fireworks and some man at the Front Desk was just going off.

She was so surprised! The night before we moved I told her that the front desk had called while she was in the shower and we were going to have to change rooms becuase of "some kind of problem with the vents or something." She didn't question because neither one of us is the least bit mechanical. She just looked annoyed. So we got all packed up that night because we had Cindy's breakfast at 8:10 the next morning - which was fabulous by the way. Then at about 2pm MK had gotten really crowded so I said, "Let's go ride the monorail over to the Polynesian and see how much we remember from coming with mom and dad." Of course, the first stop is the GF so I suggested we get off and look around. While she was taking pictures and buying candy at the gingerbread house I checked us in and our room was even ready! I explained to the CM what was going on and she had our luggage sent to our room. I told my sis that they had a tour for visiting guests and asked her if she wanted to check out a room. She said, "Sure." So off we went to our room with our stuff in it. She was so surprised! Yes, it was everything she wanted it to be. Especially the ducks swimming in the pool with the kids - we both thought that was so cute. I am so glad we chose to stay there. I don't know if any of you remember or not, but at one time she was going to get engaged this summer and her BF was going to do this whole surprise Grand Floridian proposal thing - but that's kind of off now from what I hear. So I'm really glad I got to be the one to surprise her with the GF! (I'll include some of their phone comversations in my trip report - I guess I was that annoying when I was 21 too.)
