Perfect time for resorts in now

So checked in today to Riveria and I must say I was worried before we arrived that it would be strange, but I could not have been more wrong. The crowd level is perfect!! I think this has worked out perfectly for us...they put us in a 2 bedroom villa in a preferred room in the center of the resort on the 8th floor. My godson and I had the kiddie section all to ourselves for most of the day...no wait for the big kid slide either. Pool activities for the family, with music, games and trivia was lots of fun. We were able to make dinner reservations for each night wherever we wanted...

I actually think this is perfect.

Probably a strange question,but do you feel any "guilt" for being at WDW?

We are scheduled to be at Pop Century July 11-17 and really hadn't thought about if I should feel "guilty" or "selfish" until I saw this Thread:

From reading the Thread it seems many think anyone going to WDW now should not be going and some say some Cast Members and some of their family members will die because of the reopening.

That is really disturbing to think I could be responsible for something like that and so we are seriously thinking about cancelling.

Being there,do you get a "vibe' that the Cast Members do not want to be there and "resent" Guests being there.

Thank you for any "on the ground" insight.

We did have the guilt part of it..yes, that's part of the reason we had doubts about coming. I will say this.. everyone from cast to guests are wearing masks and extremely social distanced. There is hardly anyone here as we have seen in blogger's post this week. It really makes for a very secure feeling. I don't think we could or would have come if it were packed with people.

As far as cast members go, all the cast members we talked to, from bellmen to waiters to bartenders are extremely happy to be back and working again. As the bartender at Topolinos told us last night...."they called me on the 20th and asked if I would like to go back to work, and I said heck yeah when do you want me?" He said he would have came even if they told him he had to wear a full hazmat suit. We then had a conversation about how bad Orlando has been hit by the lack of tourism and it is just good to be able to return to some sort of normal.

I am in complete agreement that it is the perfect time to go. We stayed at Riviera the first week they were open. We had so many amazing interactions with cast members. There were so few people there that a lot of cast members took the time to learn our names, and we loved chatting with them. During our week, I only saw two people at Riviera not wearing their masks correctly. It was pretty easy to just walk away from them. We did get a little bored after a while without the parks, but we always felt welcome, wanted, and safe. The manager even begged us to stay there again on our trip in July.

We decided on the Poly for our July trip. After seeing how few people are there with the regular rooms closed, we just couldn't pass it up. It is the least busy the Poly will ever be, and our best opportunity to really enjoy that resort.

Just personal opinion, but, unless you are coming from an area of greater community spread than Orange County, I wouldn't feel guilty about going. We live in a former "hot spot" where our rates have fallen precipitously. Our beaches, pools, outdoor dining, some indoor dining, etc. have re-opened (bars remain closed) with capacity limits, mask recommendations (mandates in some places) and physical distancing in effect. The guidelines and regulations are very similar to what WDW resort has put into place. As long as CMs and guests follow those guidelines, I think the chances of infection at WDW resort remain low.
