Perfect Day in MK today!

We are here on a long weekend stay - its myself and my two teenagers. We followed easywdw and touring plans for which parks to go to and this definitely seemed like the best day to go to MK. Our CM at POR suggested we be at bus stop at 7:30 to make it to MK by 8:45. So we actually left at 7:40 (after filling up our refillable mugs) and got there by 7:55. My teens thought that was way too early and frankly I was a little weary too. But we took pictures and talked to people and had a great spot by gate to watch the Opening. Long story short, they opened the gates at 8:45 and we stayed to the right of the Anna and Elsa crowd and were probably the 50-75th people in line for the 7DMT. We finished riding before 9 am and then we followed our "optimized" touring plan from touringplans.com. The longest we waited for anything was the Haunted Mansion in the afternoon and the posted time was 30 minutes. A downpour was coming so it worked out perfect to where we completely missed the rain.
Our FASTPASSES started at 11:05 (Splash) 12:05 BTMR and 2:20 (SM) and got a 4th for SM at 5:20. We rode Splash twice and SM twice using the Fastpasses once for both.
The only characters we stopped for were Daisy and Minnie and then saw Pooh and friends at Crystal Palace at 5(again during a downpour).
Things truly could not have gone better from the weather, crowds, magic bands, fastpasses, etc. it was a magical day!!

Does the POR seem to have a lot of guests staying there?

POR has just become my favorite resort. Got to skip check in with magic bands and room was ready by 12 pm. The food court is great, pool is fun and not overly packed (when we've been around in the evenings) and the scenery is just gorgeous. No it doesn't seem too crowded at all to me.

We used to think it was crazy to arrive that early, until we did it a few times. It just makes the morning so much better. We are NOT morning people, except at Disney! Thanks for the positive report, hope the rest of your weekend goes as well!!

How was the rope drop procedure? I've heard horror stories about pushing, shoving, easy to twist ankles on tram tracks, etc.

We were not directly behind the rope by choice and we weren't going to see Anna and Elsa but we did walk at a brisk pace. We stayed on sidewalk and never had a problem!

~Yay! That certainly was a magical day at MK! I still can't believe all of this August rain occurring in June! But, I don't mind the rain -- it aids in helping to disperse the crowds & also shortens the lines, in my experiences. I'm glad you had a fabulous time at Disney & managed to escape the downpour! I can't wait to head back to WDW!
