Perception of Perfection???

You know, I must admit I have the perfect child. The day he was born, all the nurses told me how perfect he was. A beautiful baby--born that way even after 24 hours of labor. Barely ever cried. Slept through the night from the beginning. Potty trained early & easy. Every teacher he has had since he started preschool has told me how he is their most favorite student ever. Super smart, respectful, kind, every other child loves him. Seriously.

Then along comes DS#2, and he MORE than makes up for it! :rotfl: The same preschool teachers look at me in horror. :scared: The boy had dirty looks perfected by the time he was 6 months old. Have to admit, somehow that makes me a little proud. :scratchin I guess you have to accept your kids for who they are.

Oh, for all those people out there who want me to see pictures of their perfect things, I block your signature so I can't see them.

:charac2: NAH, NAH, NAH, NAH

Oh, I'm soooooo not perfect.

Ah yes, see that type ALL over the internet. The thing that gets me is all the "gifted" children. In reality they may be, but sheesh, there seems to be a whole lot of them! If so many are gifted, then are they really???? (I am not talking about this board, but many of the boards I read)

I'll be the first to admit that I'm far from perfect. I'm almost 54 years old. I'm pleasantly plump. My face is trying to meet up with my feet. If I didn't color my hair, it would be an odd shade of gray. I often haven't a clue what people are talking about (mostly on world/political issues). I do, however, try to be pleasant.

As far as my DD is concerned, that is another matter. In my eyes, she is perfect. You will never convince my otherwise. Don't even try, because I won't listen! :cheer2:

Oh, and after all the effort I put into it.. :teeth:

I like to think I'm perfect and always argue the idealistic, but the truth is
- I'm probably only going to scrape a 2.2 in my degree :scared: (I hope!)
- I often talk about things of which I have no clue!
- I am always falling in public and completely humiliating myself (you'd think I'd get used to it after so many incidents!)

And that's just the tip of the iceberg!

I think most of us sometimes reply to threads with a 'perfect world' answer - because we are talking from a non-involved position.

I am far from perfect.

Life isn't perfect and my family isn't perfect.

And Chris&Steph, imo, your beauty is far greater than your youthful look! You are one pretty woman.

I ahd one of those too. My first was just perfect. Then he turned eight, going on thirty!! HELP!!! We call him, "The teenager in training".

You can hang with me for a while. I'm so far from perfect it's not funny! :lmao:

Who is it (D L and K's Mom?--is that her name? I could have the wrong initials) that has the self given tag or signature that is something like "life doesn't have to be perfect to be wonderful". Something to consider!

it sometimes feels like no DISer's kids EVER eat fast food or watch TV or play video games or really do anything besides study, eat tofu salads and watch the Disney Channel. There's also the kids that excel in every sport

Well thats not my kid...she eats fast food PLENTY...we eat out many nights during the week either at restaurants or sometimes fast food! I am currently moving her into a bigger room for her bedroom-with her cable TV ( I block all the HBO type channels), Playstation2 game and computer with cable modem (thought that will be coming out once she starts going online to places other than nick and disney websites LOL) She is working on her brown belt in karate and is far from the best in the class but she tries her hardest. She is a really bright kid, not the smartest in the class but up there someplace...not "gifted" but they do throw that word around easily now...if they read well compared to other kids they are labeled as "gifted" but by the end of grade school they usually become just like everyone else..the rest all catch up. I take her out of school for vacations...I don't let her play with guns or at any house where they own guns...I fed her only home made organic baby food...so we are not perfect but I do have strong opinions on things such as smoking and guns...

Things aren't always as they appear to be. Remember that!
