pepsi on board! update

There's not many places I know of down here that sell pepsi except taco bell and pizza hut.

I believe they're owned by Pepsi, so you wouldn't catch them serving Coke.

I'm a Diet Coke freak. Glad you can get it on the ship at no extra charge now.

I'm a major Pepsi drinker and I always associated it with Disney. When I was little we had the 64-65 World Fair here in NYC. I remember drinking pepsi outside the "It's a Small World" ride. I wonder why Disney deals only with coke?

If disney had pepsi, I would be forced to drink water for 3 days..UGH!!

I'm not sure I could go 3 days without a coke.

This thread is good stuff, and offers absolutely no helpful info to DCL cruisers beyond the fact that Coke has the soda fountain contract--and that's what is so great about it--we've all just gone with it...and I think "gone" is the operative word.

Way overdue, but kudos for the subtle homage to Casablanca and the wonderful performance by Claude Rains earlier by the poster who was shocked, SHOCKED!....very well executed...

No one else weighed in on the full list of world shattering debates...probably a good sign that others have something better to do.

Well at least I'm glad nobody has even broached the subject of Hellman's vs Any Other Mayo. Why does anyone else even bother to make mayo??

Back on topic; I love Diet Coke and regular Pepsi. Wouldn't drink a diet Pepsi or a regular Coke. Weird, huh?

I brought Pepsi on board the cruise with me in Feb. I saw a bunch of others with Pepsi products too!!

I bought a Pepsi in Nassau.....it tasted like Coke! Pepsi tastes different in other countries.

We are taking a cruise this summer....and pepsi will be in my suitcase again. Why cant the cruise lines have both? I woul have gladly paid to have Pepsi on the ship.

Princess only had coke. I prefer Diet Pepsi, but can make do w/ Diet Coke.
But DH has to have his daily Dew! Luckily we knew about it and grabbed a 6 pack to take on board.
Not crazy about Pepsi Light in MX!
So do all cruise lines serve Coke? Anyone serving Pepsi might get my next cruise $!!

You mean Best foods?
Actually, I'm a little surprised they don't make their own mayo on board.

I'm from the Pepsi generation! ha ha :earboy2: Seriously, all I drink at home is Pepsi, but when out at restaurants or whatever I do like fountain coke, so I'll be okay on DCL!

The restaurants you name were formerly divisions of Pepsico, but were spun off years ago into a restaurant IPO called YUM Brands, trading under the stock symbol "YUM". The following is from MSN Money:

Yum! Brands, Inc.: Company Report

YUM! Brands, Inc. (YUM) is a quick service restaurant company with over 33,000 restaurants in more than 100 countries and territories. The Company is made up of six operating companies organized around the five restaurant concepts of KFC, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, Long John Silver's (LJS) and A&W All-American Food Restaurants (A&W) (the Concepts). The six operating companies are KFC, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, LJS, A&W and YUM Restaurants International (YRI). Through its five Concepts, the Company develops, operates, franchises and licenses a worldwide system of restaurants that prepare, package and sell a menu of food items. These restaurants are operated by the Company or, under the terms of franchise or license agreements, by franchisees or licensees that are independent third parties, or by affiliates in which the Company owns a non-controlling equity interest. The international operations of the five Concepts are consolidated into a separate operating company, YRI.

And yes, it is a horror--and possibly an affront to the Georgia State Consitution, which as discussed earlier in this thread is believed to require that state residents drink only "Co-Cola "products-- in suburban Cobb County, outside of Atlanta, that the best known local landmark for giving directions, "The Big Chicken", has a retro style Pepsi Cola emblem on the side, as it is a part of a KFC location.

A weird bit of trivia...I was an avid Pepsi drinker, but after giving it up while I was pregnant with and then nursing my son, I didn't like the taste of it when I went back to soda. Now I only like coke! Strange, I know!

Well, I have to place my vote for Diet Pepsi. I can't drink regular pop/soda because of all the sugar, and when I first started drinking diet, it really didn't matter much between Diet Coke/Diet Pepsi. But since I'm getting "older" :sad2: my tastes have evolved, and I have a distinct preference for Diet Pepsi.

AND...

Wouldn't be surprised. Southern taste is significantly sweeter than Northern taste. Two words: Sweet Tea.

I have to say, I grew up in the heart of the Midwest (St. Louis), and I lived in Jacksonville, FL for 2 years, and I thought SWEET TEA was the FUNNIEST thing! :rotfl2: I don't know why, but everytime they would ask me if I wanted sweet or unsweet...it just made me laugh! :rotfl:
It does make perfect sense that those who prefer sugar to sweeten their tea would be better off with it pre-sweetened! Ever try to disolve sugar in already-cold tea? Not fun.

Pepsi drinker here

But on the cruise I drink fruit punch or sprite...sometimes I put sprite in the fruit punch. We are going on the 14 day westbound so I've been thinking of taking some pepsi with me because I don't think I can go 14 days without at least one :earseek:

Thanks all for such a fun thread. Love my Soda. Got so worked up trying to put in my first post in this thread I bumped into my giant cup of Diet Coke and spilled it all over everything! :rotfl2:

Had to spend the entire rest of my day at work in slightly sticky pants!!

Had fun reading everyone above, Sweet Tea is awesome with Lemon isn't it!!

My final scoreboard so I can get this all out of my system and talk about all the Logan1 important things and especially Disney related things:

Diet Coke with Lime over Diet Coke with Lemon
Diet Pepsi over Diet Coke
Real Coke over Real Pepsi
Mr. Pibb over Dr. Pepper
Real A&W Root Beer over any other brand of Root Beer.
Vernors over other brands of Ginger Ale
AND (believe it or not) ABSOLUTELY no preference over Lemon-Lime drinks such as 7-UP.

In California we have something called Mountain Dew Code Red, does it exist elsewhere in the US?

Does Taco Bell in other states besides California offer Baja Blast.

No More. Sorry. If I get tempted, I will go to a soda discussion board!

Yes, we have it in Alabama. Made a friend of mine very jittery with all that "extra" caffeine. I accidentally pushed the Code Red button on a vending machine last week. (Poor me...missed my Dr. Pepper)
The Code Red is drinkable, but not very good. I sipped it enough to get my food down.

Yes, we have Code Red here in NJ also. DS loves it when he can actually talk me into letting him drink it! :rotfl2:

I love Code Red, but the real one to try is Jolt Cola . not sure if it's nationwide. They advertise that it has twice the caffiene and twice the sugar of any other cola. Can you say buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Well....since you brought it up!!!! Hellmann's/Best Foods (same Mayo west of the Rockies) is the only way to go for mayo!!! And that has nothing to do with me working for the company for 23 years!!!!

And why not add that Heinz Ketchup (not catsup) is King!!!

And....I am the same as you...Diet Coke and only regular pepsi...diet Pepsi is nasty and regular Coke too sweet!!!

Thanks for the word on Code Red. The soft drink companies have a way of making products for local markets. Got hooked on Mr. Pibb when I spent the summer in Houston many years ago and went crazy when I got back to CA and found out they did not have it! Had to wait several years before we got it in CA, and even then the only way you can get it in Disneylandland is at the fountain. Bottles and cans not allowed, the same companies that could bottle it have contracts in Southern CA with Dr. Pepper and the Pepper folks have an exclusivity clause in the contract that says you can't bottle both Dr. Pepper and Mr. Pibb. :guilty:
