pepsi on board! update

Coke Rocks! :disrocks:

Besides a rum and coke isn't a rum and pepsi...its a rum and coke...gotta have one of those when your cruisin

I don't drink Pepsi, but I LOVE one of their product lines...Dr. Pepper.
If I made it for 7 days last year at WDW without one, then I'll make it for 4 nights on the Wonder without it too.
I had a friend who sailed a few years ago and found a Pepsi machine in Nassau. It was the most expensive canned drink she'd ever bought, but she thought it saved her life! I wish Nassau was a day later, then that would be half-way thru the cruise for a "Pepper Fix"!

I had to "negotiate" a new soda contract three years in a row for my son's Little League. RC won the deal the first year, they "donated" $500 for us to switch. Pepsi won the next, they "donated" $500 and a scoreboard. Coke won the next year, "donated" $500 and 2 scoreboards. Funny, we get parent complaints everytime we switch....but the KIDS don't even notice.

I have to say that if it was coke or pepsi I would much prefer coke but I would buy pepsi if that was the only choice...but if it was RC Cola or any of the store brands they are just downright terrible...I wouldn't even buy it.

you know, diet Dr. Pepper tastes more like regular Dr Pepper....

Now for the soapbox....12 oz of a regular "coke" or "pepsi" product has 150+ calories.....9 tsps of sugar!!!!!.....also, not the good ole sugar we grew up with, but cheaply produced corn syrup......5 sodas per day = 1/3 the entire calorie intake for a full grown man, with "0" nutrition....

I didn't bother to get off the ship in Nassau last December. However, if there is a Pepsi machine there, I may have found a new attraction to visit!

I will drink Coke when I'm desperate, but I usually just drink tea or water while on board. I do order Coke with my meals, but I always tell the server that Pepsi would be so much better! I drink a lot of the fruit punch, too.

we are diet pepsi drinkers - and found out this is where shirley comes in very handy!!!

Pepsi is my first choice. Coke in a glass of ice is fine, but out of a can I can't drink...

I grew up in yankee, er, pepsi territory. even interviewed for a job at pepsico once. i promise you, the fact that i am devoted to coke has nothing to do with what flaming a**holes a couple of the people i met with that day were--i also ran into a college friend that day who was working for pepsi (he hated it so much he quit, changed careers, and today I think he is the weather guy on Fox's national morning show, Dave Price). Thank God my career path led me to Atlanta where by law coke is in all fountains, all faucets, and is available in the new "I.V" packaging, so you can get more of the secret formula directly into your system. Did a presentation to my DS's 2nd grade class last year on my collection of commemorative coke bottles.

I tried to notice where the pro-pepsi posters were from--mostly, but not all, yankees. One poor misguided soul in virginia. That diet rite lover in FLA--i wonder if that poster is lifelong FLA, or a transplanted yankee. Hey, i used to live up north, its not y'all's fault (y'all do know the plural of "y'all", don't you? "all y'all"), its how you were raised. You're just trying preserve your heritage. And we all know how yankees love to trash folks in the south (you know, the part of the country y'all pay hundreds of dollars a day to visit on vacation and escape those six months of winter every year) preserving southern heritage, but some responding posters will defend pepsi and northern heritage...and i respect that, bundling up, watching baseball in parkas in april and shoveling snow is indeed y'all's heritage...

and you do know that in the mid 20th century, in many yankee towns it was a form of insult to call a canadian a "pepsi" (this part really is true, in contrast to the heavy sarcasm at work here)...

So lug your 12 packs on board in your carry on. by the way, my DS was the starting pitcher in his team's opening day baseball game yesterday, March 18th. 5 weeks of preseason got him ready and he won. So, all you nice northerners, how many inches of snow did you shovel this week while we were playing baseball? I'll have to check back for the answer a little later, when I take a break from mowing the grass to drink a refreshing diet coke with lime.

Okay, in all seriousness, count this as a vote for coke, a vote for good weather, a friendly razzing and thumbing of my nose at the chilly wasteland of my youth and early adulthood...but yes, I am definitely rooting for my home state UCONN against North Carolina State and was rooting for them against Georgia Tech in last year's title game in spite of the fact that I live 8 minutes from Tech...and 9 from the World of Coke.

So wherever you're from, have a DCL cruise and a smile....and for those I may have insulted...I will defend my dripping sarcasm with my actual memories of early season games at shea stadium in 37 degree weather, having to buy coffee two at a time just to hold them in my hands to keep my hands from freezing, and having to shovel off the tennis courts in april before high school tennis matches...but this post was really just in fun... :jumping1:

I guess this is the real division in our nation! Diet Coke!!! I'll drink diet Pepsi if there isn't anything else (ie Taco Bell) but I MUCH prefer Diet Coke. However, I try not to drink more than 1 or 2 cans per day and drink milk, water or ice-tea instead. If they had Pepsi instead of Coke onboard, I guess I would just have to stick to milk & water at the drink station since they only have "instant" ice-tea there. (Although the ice-tea in the dining room seems to be brewed.)

My DH probably goes through 5 or 6 cans of Diet Coke per day! If we run out he goes through caffein withdrawal :rotfl:

Disney has to keep the largest group of people it can happy. Coke's the best selling cola, so I suspect that is the biggest reason they use it on the ships and in the parks.

FYI Dr Pepper is not a Pepsi product, it is it's own independent brand. In some cities it is bottled by the local Dr. Pepper bottler, other cities it is made under contract by the local Coke bottler, and in other cities it is made under contract by the local Pepsi bottler. But it is an independent company.
Our vending machines at work are operated by the local Dr. Pepper bottler, which means they are stocked with Dr. Pepper, Coke AND Pepsi.

APRILGAIL2........I agree there are some bad store brands out there, but there are some pretty good ones too. I find Sam's American choice and Shasta pretty good. I grew up on Shasta sodas, but that brand has faded in the past 30 years,it's hard to find anymore.
To be honest, the soda I drink most often is Diet Rite, because it is the only diet soda out there made with Splenda. Nutrasweet gives me a headache. Diet RC cola also is made with splenda, but the local bottler has stopped making it. I guess I will also be able to start drinking Diet Coke in the coming months since they are dumping Nutrasweet for Splenda.
When I really want to be bad, I'll drink a Mountain Dew....yes, it's a Pepsi product. But when you work graveyard shift, there are times you need caffiene and sugar. And in extreme emergencies there is always Jolt Cola, twice the sugar and twice the caffiene!!!

Coke all the way !!!

Disney and Coke are as All American as you can get.

Actually a transplanted Army brat who has lived in Florida for 30 years now. And I drink Diet Rite because it is the only one I can drink. Have an deadly reaction to nutrasweet (aspartame, equal) Can't wait until Coke starts using Splenda! But news I have heard in a long time.

:yo-yo: I definetly think they should stick with coke. Coke is more crisp and refreshing, pepsi is too sweet. :earsboy:

But you know what Pepsi and coke regular formulas do have in common?....promoting tooth decay, obesity in children and adults, and diabetes....

I'm happy they have coke because then they have Diet Sprite on board. I usually just drink water and we do not let our kids have soda of any kind so we are quite happy with the water and milk on board for them ;)

My kids dentist just hates soda, she said it is amazing what it does to kids teeth and that I would be surprised by how much of it some parents give their kids. Thankfully, are kids don't even know what they are missing (yet, that is). I know the teenage years will be different but I still don't have to bring it in the house! :flower:

When I did drink sugary sodas, I DEFINITELY preferred Coke to Pepsi. A Classic Coke with ice in a glass, yum.

My dad has driven a Coke truck for the past 30+ years so my vote goes to COKE! I was brainwashed from birth to believe that Pepsi would make me sick! I have tasted Pepsi (peer pressure in high school ;) ) but there is just something about Coke - yummy.

Logan1_2000 - you are in Atlanta, home of Coke's corporate headquarters, I think it would be illegal for you to like Pepsi! :)

Disney deals with coke because it is cheap..lol.

Pepsi would be much better..honestly they could do both!

I'm shocked; shocked I tell you, that you all can debate the relative merits of a triviality like Coke vs. Pepsi, when there are so many more crucial battles between good and evil in the world; you know, like: Bud Light vs. Miller Lite, a Big Mac vs. a Whopper, DCL vs. RCCL, Mickey vs. Donald, Wal Mart vs. Target, Ginger vs. MaryAnn, Bush vs. Kerry, Peter Pan vs. JIF, Chevy vs. Ford, Harrison Ford vs. Clint Eastwood, New York vs. Los Angeles, Letterman vs. Leno, Pampers vs. Luvs, Dell vs. Apple, Arnie vs. Jack, Grey Goose vs. Absolut, or Charmin vs. Northern.

Is it any wonder I cannot sleep at night, when such monumental conflicts remain unresolved? The horror. :scared1:
