Can someone please explain to me how the Pepper Market at CSR Resort works. I know it runs differently than the other resort food courts. Do they bring your food and drinks to you? What about refillable mugs? I'd appreciate any info!

When you arrive at the entrance the staff hand you a stamp card and seat you. They explain how the restaurant works if you have never been there before. They have several food station offering entirely different foods. If you have ever been to a food court, it is the same concept. When everyone has finished eaten. You take the stamped cards to the cashier. They do have staff that get your drink order only and they will stamp your food card after they bring you your drinks. They staff come by and clean your plates away and get you extra napkins etc. We love it because we all want something different to eat and they variety is great. Danish/Baked Good station, Waffle, Fresh Fruit and Cereal Station, Combo station, fresh omelet station. If works the same for lunch and dinner but their food selection changes.

Hope you enjoy as much as we have when we stayed at CSR.

When I was there (a few years ago) it was pandemonium! Difficult to determine where to order, and you best be standing in the right spot or you will not be acknowledged! At least that's how it was then. I hope it has improved.

When you check out they do tack on a 10% gratuity automatically for the people who clear your table and get your drinks. If you are getting food "to go" make sure you are very clear that you should not be charged the 10% gratuity and check your receipt before leaving!

We were there in February and weren't sure what we'd think as its operation gets mixed reviews here. Well, we liked the way it was run. In other food courts, you have to wait for everyone to get there food before you can check out and get a table, if you decide you want something else then you have to go get it and check out once again.

At Pepper Market, I thought the process was more relaxing. We could even send one to get food while the others still contemplated their choices. Also, you can always order a second margarita or beer without leaving your table -- Loved that!!

I know that alot of people complain about the 10% gratuity and, while we didn't really mind, I can see their point. Getting your own food is probably more than 1/2 of your service so charging you 10% which is 1/2 to 2/3 of a normal tip (15-20%) just to get drinks and napkins is a bit on the high side.

Count me among those who found the gratuity unnecessary, surprising, and insulting. It's enough to keep me from going back to this place.

It is customary to tip 10% at buffets for the servers who clear your plates and bring you drinks. However, at most places it is at your discretion. I guess you could get into an arguement with the cashier if you really wanted to tip less, but who would?

WE DID NOT LIKE IT..when we were there Thanksgiving of 2005. We did get a good Thanksgiving meal but I thought the choices were just OKAY for the other days. It would get crowded and you would have to wait here and then wait there and we never had great service and yet we had that automatic tip put on the bill. I thought it was very pricey.

Thanks for the info everyone! We'll be at CSR in June and will surely eat at the Pepper Market a few times- mainly breakfast. I'm a little apprehensive after reading these posts but we're pretty open minded and will give it a try.

We ate there Sept. 04 (on DDP) and were very disappointed. It seemed by the time you got your food (and your kid's food) things were getting cold. We seemed to do alot of wandering around to decide what we wanted to. We were there for breakfast.

I'm not trying to argue, but I don't really see the difference with Pepper Market versus the food court at other mods, ie. CBR.

At both CBR and PM if you each want food from different stations you have to stand and wait in each station's line. At PM the only difference is you don't pay until you leave the restaurant and you're stuck with a 10% tip.

At CBR, you can pick whatever table you want. I'm not sure what you mean by saying that "you have to wait for everyone to get their food before you can check out and get a table." We have always picked a table and then one of us (adults) goes up to order and the other one sits with one or both kids at whatever table we choose.

As for drinks, if you have a refillable mug, you can just go up to the drink station at any time for refills--no check out line for that.

The only real difference I see is that at PM you pay for everything at the end. But the process of waiting in lines for food doesn't change any between different mod food courts. The only real difference is at POR or CBR you will have to check out more than once if you decide you want additional food/drinks (if you're not using a refillable mug), but otherwise the food court situation seems very similar to me.
