Have stayed at Coronado Springs in the past and loved it. Taking my mother for her first visit and staying at SSR. I think she woud really enjoy CSR for a bite and look around. Has anyone been to Pepper Market lately? I've heard the menu has changed - taking some of the nicer things like steak off the menu. We are on the QSDP. Is it worth the trip over from SSR? Keep in mind we do like the atmosphere and just want a decent meal.

Sorry, haven't been there since last Nov. so can't speak to current menu. However, we ate at Pepper Market very often in our 20 days of DDP, so obviously we liked it!

The Chef's Special changes each dinner; some were very good, some we didn't bother.

We didn't get the steak because we figured it was a cheap cut & wouldn't be worth the DDP credits.

We got an ice cream sundae once & it was awful - ice cream was partially melted before it hit our bowl.

Once we got the pasta (create your own to a certain degree). It was good, but nothing great. However it was too big for one of us, so we split.

Many times we got the Nachos. We thought they were absolutely yummy. The flavoring was special - much better than we have ever tasted. We always got chicken, so I'm assuming it was the seasoning on the chicken (but not hot seasoning). These were too big for 1 person, so we split.

We saw some other Mexican dishes prepared (open grill so we could watch), & they looked yummy too & the portions were huge.

Upon entering PM, one is shown to a table. A server takes & serves drinks & refills. Then the diner goes to the food court & gets their own food. After eating, one pays at a register & cash customers are charged 10% tip. DDP folks are supposed to leave the tip on the table.

We'll be back at PM during our upcoming Dec 2011 trip. I think it is one of the best counter service spots for Disney dining.

Enjoy.

The Mexican dishes are generally quite good. Large portions too

I agree! We made two trips this past May over there for lunch, while we were staying at POFQ. Between the three of us we had the Mexican steak with black beans and rice, chicken nachos, rotisserie chicken with fried and grilled veggies, and the pork loin with mango sauce and veggies. Except for the rotisserie chicken, everything was very good. The chicken nachos made to order with extra guacamole, sour cream and jalapenos on the side were the best though. The chicken wasn't bad, just not as good at the nachos or pork loin. I think the Pepper Market is one of the best CS restaurants at WDW if you are on the DDP and we always make at least one trip over there even if we are not staying there (usually for lunch on our Disney Studio day).

I am not fond of most counter service restaurants at WDW, but Pepper Market is one of the very few I like (along with Tangeriene Cafe, Sunshine Seasons, and WGP Express).

We have eaten there every trip and this past trip in May they had taken the steak off the menu, just left on the steak Rancharo. They also took off the pasta with cream sauce with shrimp, they still have the chicken, but the other was our favorite.
They say that the tip is not in the DDP, but we have never been charged the % for it that they say.
They do have a good selection and even their desserts are pretty good. It's the best bang for your buck if on the DDP since everything there is a littlebit more $ than the rest of the counter service places.

Unless you have a large party (6 or more I believe) tip is not automatically added to your bill. It is your discretion as to how much to tip and you can either leave cash or fill in the amount on the TIP line of the receipt you give back for your room or credit charge.

So in other words, those of us paying cash (probably more profitable) are forced to pay this tip and those on the DDP don't have to pay it.

Bizarre!

(The "tip" is why I don't eat there anymore. The last time they showed me to the ONLY clean table in the place and that was IT.... no drink refills, no effort to clean the mess off any of the tables around me, NOTHING! I tipped for the ablity to find a clean table? UH, I don't think so!)

It has slowly gone downhill....we stay at the Coronado once a month for a night and we have learned to stay away..its not as fresh as the other Disney food and yes they have removed stuff...they used to have great mashed potatoes and they are gone...a lot of the food there sits....

Not been since last October but the choice had been greatly reduced from the year before. Basically three mexican choices instead of the old 8 or so. Less fruit, pastries and cooked meals. Onlly thing that hadn't changed much was breakfast.
