Pepper Market on the DDP?

Sorry if it's been asked but the SEARCH feature is not working for me.

How does the Pepper Market work when using the DDP or DxDP? I know it's considered CS, but there's a big price differential between the steak meal @ $21 and a burger meal @ $10. Are there any restrictions, tricks, hidden values?

No restrictions that I know of! We were just there (twice) this weekend, and were able to get anything we wanted!

I used DDP once for breakfast (Southwestern omelette that comes with potatoes and banana muffin, coffee, and bottled cranberry juice)

and

I used it once for dinner (Asian Pork Tenderloin with peanut ginger sauce, served with Japanese noodles, dessert and iced tea)

The steak did NOT look good at all. It was a ribeye, and it was very thin and looked dried out (picture jerky). The special that night was Prime Rib, but that was cut very thin also.

Seems strange that you can order anything with any dollar value. I wasn't too interested in the steak, only that the price seemed like a lose-lose situation for Disney. I'm not too concerned about those guys -- I hear they're doing just fine.

What about dessert? At Pecos Bill, for example, you get a pre-packaged brownie or other. When using the DDP credit at PM for both a meal combo and dessert, how and where do you pick from? Desserts seem to be offered at other counters with lots of choices at different prices.

Did your server tell you that tips are NOT included? We were there last week and the server told me that tips are NOT included so we left a tip, but everything I've read here said that they are included. I'm wondering if she was mistaken or tricked me into a tip when it is already included.

Why would tips be an issue at all? I thought this was a CS? Does someone come around to your table and help you with drinks? Or are you referring to the people behind the food stations who prepare your food?

There is a 10% service charge included (or so it says on the back of your order slip). But, they encourage tipping at the table too. The servers bring your drinks, clear your plates, and are there to handle other requests. We left a small tip at the table when we left.

Gotcha -- so they're like servers at a buffet. I'll keep that in mind.

You can get a prime rib dinner or rib eye steak and it only counts as CS credit. The only restrictions are on the fancy desserts. Only tier one and two desserts are available on DDP.

This is so confusing I have a feeling I'll get it once I'm there. But is nice to know that you can go back to the PM for "dinner" if your using you TS for luch that day. Any other clarification on the PM would be so helpful!!

I have never actually eaten at PM, but will tell you how I have read that it works. If any of this is incorrect, please feel free to correct me!

Whether on the dining plan or not, I believe what you do is get a 'ticket' of some kind that you carry with you as you decide what to eat. At each station where you order something, they stamp your ticket with the information on what you ordered. So with the DP I believe what would happen is you would choose your entree, drink and dessert and have your ticket stamped for this, and then when you go to the cashier you hand them the ticket and tell them you are on the DDP. They will see that you got the entree, drink and dessert and charge 1CS credit for you.

Hope this helps, I have heard from other posters that it can be a bit confusing at first but you can quickly get the hang of it!

If you're on the dining plan, you won't find a better CS spot than the Pepper Market. Huge portions, great choices and tasty food. Lunch/Dinner Menu

I had the ribeye last week - it was pretty good. With drink, dessert, tip and tax, I had a $32 or so meal for 1 CS credit. Not bad, especially since the DDP was free.

Thank you for the pictures and the information - everyone! That answers all of my questions. We will have four credits leftover on the DxDP on our last day and I thought this would be an interesting place for everyone to try something different. Thanks again.

WOW...those photos look yummy. We are considering a CSR stay for 2009. I am a BIG dessert fan. What is the difference between the dessert "tiers"?
