Pepper Market experience

My family and I always try to make a trip to CSR to go to the Pepper Market...it has more of a selection than pretty much any other CSR and we've always enjoyed our meals. The only thing that is annoying is that you have a "server" who really does nothing but bring drinks and you have to tip them. That part is kinda ridiculous.

We have stayed at CSR twice. We just got back from our most recent stay this past Sunday. We really like the Pepper Market. I think the selection is huge and the food is good and you get large portions. It is a little annoying that you have to get the card stamped and wait for them to get your dessert, but other than that, we have enjoyed it! My DS14 never had a problem finding something he liked, and he is on the picky side.

Be careful...not all the sweets are covered by a snack credit. Just ask at the counter before you make your selection.

We like the Pepper Mkt. Our boys enjoy the kids selection, but it is normal kids selections like chicken and pizza.

I'm not sure how much research you've done. This CS is different from any other. You will be shown to a table and each person gets a card with squares on it. You then go to the different stations to order your food which will be freshly prepared. They stamp your card and you wait for your food to be ready. I would suggest each parent take a child and "window shop" the selections before making your choice. Then one parent can probably take the kids back to the table where your drinks should be waiting while the other parent waits for the food. You don't all have to order at the same station; just stay centrally located to keep an eye out for your food. When you finish your meal, head over to the bakery counter and get your dessert. You can even get it to go and take it back to your room. You can get all of your food to go and sit outside or back at your room. So, if you walk in and let everyone decide what they want, one of you can stay, order, and take it where the others are. It's not exactly room service, but it works.

If you have DDP it is great. You only have to use the counter service credits there so it it a great deal and a good break from the usual counter service. We had everything from fajitas to steaks to pasta to asian food. The bakery for desserts was great! It is not 5 star and if you are paying OOP instead of DDP it can be very expensive. We had DDP and loved it. The resort is beautiful and our room was right by the bus stop. Have a great trip!

Don't get too high or too low or too focused on the Pepper Market. You actually have three CS choices at CSR, we used all three:

Pepper Market
Cafe Rix, grab and go, but has a grill
There is also a concession at the pool

You'll be able to refill a mug at either Cafe Rix or the pool concession.

My friend also used the room service menu and had a salad for me when I arrived after 11pm. It wasn't the best salad ever, but it certainly hit the spot.

Pooh&OurHunny your quote about son napping made me laugh - our first trip to csr our ds handled the jet lag pretty well but dd was 20 months and teething - we ate more than once at PM so that oneof us could walk the buggy round the lake while the other ate and then swap. If you need to eat it's fine if like me you love to eat well on holiday maybe not

January 2008 experience:

Breakfast - OK, but no Mexican / Latin flavors. It's easier for me to find huevos rancheros at home in Canada than in CSR.

Lunch and Dinner - the different cook stations prepared good food, with lots of variety, some with authentic flavours

Hidden costs - the 10% gratuity added to each bill added up over a week. I didn't feel that the limited service (walk us to a table, bring us drinks) was worth the significant extra cost. We're fully capable of filling our own resort mugs, thanks.

IMO Pepper Market is the best CS restaurant and a great variety. I got the chicken nachos (wonderful) and DH got the croissant turkey club sandwich. They had a large selection of desserts too. It took awhile though to get the food and the CMs didn't seem as friendly. Food was great though.

We've eaten there two or three times, both with a group of people and it worked out great because everyone was able to eat exactly what they wanted (some had pasta, some had burgers).
