A funny story to share. As we had my DH's radio scanner we were able to pick up most ship to shore conversations between the captain and the dock crews. One night we were scheduled to leave St Thomas at around 4:30pm. At 5:30pm we still had not left. There were 35 people who were still missing. These were family grous who has smply not shown up. As the groups came back the captain could be heard to mutter with sarcasm "ah, another lucky family" to the shore crew. They really don't want to leave anyone behind. One man had gone on his own to snorkle in St John and the captain was asking if they could track down the excursion company to call them and find out where he was. Finally everyone came back and we sailed away late.
If you have a Motorola Talkabout family radio and set it to scan, you can hear a lot of interesting banter back and forth between the bridge and the shore crew.
