People! Watch your kids!

That is so sad....you know when you hear the reports about children missing and your heart is breaking, kind of wonder about people like Gramps. Does he realize how close it could have been?

Unbelievable! A good friend of mine used to work in Tomorrowland (2005) and had quite a story one night. She was going around organizing the strollers into rows like they always do and found a stroller with 2 little girls in it! They were sound asleep. She stayed with them and called her manager in a panic. The manager came and stayed with her until the parents arrived about a half hour later. They called around the park and there were no reports of missing children. Meanwhile, the little girls woke up and were (obviously) very confused. When the parents arrived they were completely oblivious and didn't seem worried at all. They didn't speak english well and basically just walked away without explanation. My friend was in tears when she told me this story. How any parent could think that's okay to leave their kids in stroller parking while they go ride Space Mountain is absolutely beyond me:confused3

I'm so glad you found this little boy before anyone else did. That could have been a very bad situation!

Too bad that security wasn't called and have the parents taken in for child abandonment or something along those lines. :confused3

You guys know, how that you mention it, the grandpa DID say something like "this is why we don't let the 13 year old babysit because he doesnt pay attention, which is what makes this whole story worse IMHO. If you know the 13 year old is less than ready to handle it, why would you let your guard down at Disney?!

grrrrrrrrrr!

I'm not surprised that the Grandpa wasn't more alarmed by the child being alone. The older generations didn't have to worry about things like we do today. They were used to sending their child out into the neighborhood alone in the morning and not knowing where they were or seeing them again until the street lights went out. Unfortunately, even with all the child abductions cases in the news, I don't seeing them come around very quickly and changing their habits.

We noticed something very similar in 2007 while at the POP Century. Myself and my dh were eating at the food court with our girls when a mother and father sat their little girl about 3 at a table in the food court by the tv and left her there. After about 30 minutes when her show was over she started to panic and left the area. I went and got a CM who got her to go back to the table and waited with her. Her parents finally came back with food but I was in shock that they would just leave her like that especially since there was two of them. Some people just do not think:sad2:

Gosh, how sad story. Parents/Grandpa must take care and know their responsibilities. What if that boy is taken by anyone else, it's a big problem. Glad your the one found it. :)

This happens far too often. I do a lot of work with kids and the sad thing is that this does not just happen in Disney.

I lead worship at a kids service that has to be held in a movie theater. Our service is set up in a circular bar area on the top floor, and the theater is open and running while we are having church. After I finished the music, I went outside our area to deliver a roster, and saw about four kids waiting outside the locked doors. Apparently their parents went to church (which is held in a seperate building across the street) while their older sister left them at the entrance to the theater. We have strict rules about meeting parents anyway, but the fact that people did that with their kids right down the street from the roughest part of town shocked the whole staff.

This isn't even the worst of the stories I have, it's just the most recent. Some parents just have no brains.
