People Just don't Understand!!!!

One word. Jealousy! I know what you mean. I stopped telling certain people.

I get the look all the time at work, people keep tearsing me about my Disney vacations. I am off to DLR tomorrow, all they week, people have been saying: Didn't you guys when to Disneyworld last Halloween? and didn't you go to HKDL when you went home for Christmas and on your way home you stopped by Tokyo to the Disney there?
All I can say was..
Yeah!!!

We get that from my BIL quite a bit. So y'know what we did? We went on a Disney cruise :)

But really, its where we go because we're both happy when we're there and have great memories. We want to keep building those memories.

I finally gave up "explaining" it, so I made this...

Absolutely LOVED this!! :thumbsup2

Like so many of you have posted, WDW is truly our "happy place". My husband works WAY too hard and incredibly long hours. He is constantly stressed out. Seems like the only time I see him smile (and mean it) is when we set foot in Orlando. So yeah, we'll keep going there a couple times a year. I sent him the link with the video, and got an email in reply telling me how much he enjoyed it. He also added that he keeps going as often as he does, because he hopes that one trip he will forget his way home.

From SE Missouri. In most cases these are folks that have never been to either WDW or DL. They don't get it. They think WDW is a variation of Six Flags Over Mid-America -- or Branson.

Nobody even mentions Six Flags to us anymore. I made sure they knew my opinion on that...not even a comparasion.
For the most part people just know that we are Disney, whether it's DCL, WDW or even Vero Beach. I have explained that it's my addiction and it's better than many other addictions that are out there!
We are also lucky enough to know quite a few other DVC'ers from my DD's school and even end up going at the same time each year give or take a few days here or there.

My co-worker at the office laughed at me every time she saw my name on the calendar for vacation time. "I suppose you're going to Disney again!" she spit at me the last time I came up for time off. I finally got sick of hearing it and spit back at her "Yeah, we thought about it and decided we would rather go there then spend the time at your redneck monster truck shows." Haven't heard a word from her since. Hate being a jerk but it seems sometimes you have to be one to get rid of one.

Truth be told, it's no one's business but ours as to where we vacation.

It is nice, however, to have all of you great people to share our enthusiasm and excitement with...so if you ever need someone to do that for you, just let me know!

Hugs,

:) Folks just know that is where we are going and a few that have been recently have loved at and two girls have made their second trip. Word is out that I have tips so I get the occasional question. I just tell folks who ask that we "have a timeshare in Orlando".

My Mom and Daddy were guarded when I told them DH and I had bought into DVC. They were concerned at the expense, but knew we were OK to make our own decisions. We purchased AKV points in 2009 and we had been with them to Pop in 2008 in Dec. It was a lot of fun. Now they are getting their first DVC stay in their own SV studio at AKV and we will have one also in Oct/Nov. I have tried to gently tell my Dad (73) that it will not be like Pop--he will have a fridge, flat screen, TV--and possibly a walk to the buses :rotfl: But I am so looking forward to seeing their faces when they walk into the resort and look around. My mother adores Africa and is going to freak !! To be able to share that with them--it is magic to me.

They haven't question our purchase since we invited them to go and use our points :thumbsup2

Yup, all of the time! But my response to them is that I feel sorry for them since they just don't feel the magic. They don't know what they're missing. :thumbsup2

It warmed my heart to see your post. I was confronted with this problem just this evening. You're a grown adult and like to go to Disney World? Why don't you grow up? Well I don't want to that's why, I don't want to loose the magic! I still try to convince people they need to give Disney a chance, and they'll see why I'm obsessed :) I don't know how long I'll keep trying :) I did buy DVC this year, and kept it a secret for months because I knew what reaction I'd get from most people, which is exactly the reaction I did get from most people when I finally told them. Negative and questioning. The important people understood, which I was so glad! I don't keep it a secret anymore, I'd shout it from the rooftops, 'I LOVE DISNEY AND I DON'T CARE THAT YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND!' :woohoo:

I got sick of keeping it a secret too, I now have the DVC Member window decal on my car, so everyone knows :rotfl:

Oh HORRORS! :scared1: I'm also from Missouri and will not set foot in either Six Flags or Branson. These places can't hold a candle to WDW. The way I have been seeing it over the years is either you get it, or you don't. For those that don't, more space for those of us that do.

I get this from co-workers all the time. Cracks me up, because 2 of them bought DVC and ALL of them ask if they can come with me one day! So, "crazy" must be catching....:rolleyes1

you see, i have a friend whose families say they can't afford a Disney vacation, and they go to Cape Cod every summer. they love it and have their happy place there, but when it comes up that im going...again... and again....and again... at first she just rolled her eyes and said "your so lucky, i wish i could go, put me in your suitcase please!" now, she rolls her eyes and says shes happy going to Cape Cod, but really she has given up pleading with her family who isnt big on Disney in the first place. its sad, but true. and i always bring her back souvenears and candy, but i wish she could be a part of it all! :(:sad1::(:worried:
