A company called GameStation included this in their terms and conditions for purchasing from their web site on April Fool's day:

By placing an order via this Web site on the first day of the fourth month of the year 2010 Anno Domini, you agree to grant Us a non transferable option to claim, for now and for ever more, your immortal soul. Should We wish to exercise this option, you agree to surrender your immortal soul, and any claim you may have on it, within 5 (five) working days of receiving written notification from gamesation.co.uk or one of its duly authorized minions.

There was even a button to "nullify your soul transfer" but only 12 percent of people clicked on it. (if you did you got a coupon)

VERY clever. I am guilty of not reading fine print for a lot of things and buying a game on a website I doubt I would have read the fine print.

That is great! :)

Interesting though because it makes me wonder how many people actually read the terms and conditions before they click "OK". I'm guilty of just scanning them.

People also do not read directions. In my area there is a HUGE employer, a lot of people want to work for them and it is very competative. Once they had an employment exam, and it was 3 pages ofsmall printed directions and 500 questions. If you read the entire directions, it said to skip to the last page and only answer those 20 questions. Out of hundreds, 12 people got hired, and had read the directions. The rest stayed all day answering test questions.

Love it!

I almost surely would have read it. Having worked in internet-retailer customer service, I know very well that there are some people who barely read ANY print, let alone "fine". They don't click on the helpful links put there to draw one's attention to important info, they don't scroll down the page, etc etc. And then when you try to help them for the future (helping them help themselves) *along with helping their immediate problem*, they don't appreciate it!

I almost surely would have gotten that coupon....
