People don't get it

Oh I'm so with this topic.:thumbsup2

DH and I are going to WDW for our 35th wedding anni. in Dec.

Our friends think we are stone cold insane.:upsidedow
"We could go to Europe for what were spending'! They say.
"And what about Vegas or Broadway"! They say.

And we say that we LOVE WDW and cant wait to go back.
Our friends will never understand and just don't get it. They think people that go to Disney are uneducated rednecks.:rotfl:

Well garsh me and ma hubba mus be under etucated and ignant.

The way I've diffused this sort of criticism of my choices is to ask where they vacation and get them talking about themselves. What I don't do-even though it is SO tempting-is respond in the same way about their vacations as they do about mine. I try and be very interested and excited for them, just as I wish they would be for me.

Then I go on my way and laugh because they're missing so much fun! :lmao:

Oh but where can you get all of those experiences in one location? WDW!

You can see high quality Broadway shows (Lion King, Beauty and the Beast), You can walk through most of Europe in a day (Epcot),
You can do the night scene at Pleasure Island (even though it's changed a bit right now). Just to name a few.

Seriously, WDW has so much to offer for adults that some people just don't understand.

My family will say, why don't you try a different trip, somewhere different this time. I'll think about it, look around, and then go back to Disney. :goodvibes

I promised Hubby we could go somewhere different next vacation, he "says" he would like to try something different, then when we are at WDW, he wants to move there and stay forever.

I don't have kids, never wanted kids, will never have kids and I love Disney.

Don't get me wrong, I love well behaved kids but Disney is for everyone. It is for the young at heart as well as the young.

People like that are the sad ones.

I know people who go hunting or fishing every single year. rent a cabin, fish. same cabin (ok, dif, fish, I assume).:lmao:
and yet they wonder why WE go to the same place every year! ("and they don't even have kids!")

I am fully on board with adults loving Disney, taking solo trips, going with just their partners and no kids. I love Disney and would happily go whenever I can.

BUT I am sorry you cannot compare the world showcase to visiting Europe.

Travel is such a personal thing everyone gets different things out of trip. I have many a time seen comments on Dis against people who don't like Disney and their love of different type of travel. So it goes both ways.

I just don't know why if bugs people so much. You know you like it and that is all that matters. If that is where you choice to go on a regular basis then great go.

I myself, get a kick out of visiting many different places but will always try and fit a visit to Disney in somewhere if possible. (recently had a fantastic month on a road trip from LA to Vancouver then to polish off trip before heading back to the UK with 5 days at Disneyland)

Some at work said that when I told them where I was going to vacation last year. "Really? The why do the have the Flower and Garden Festival every spring at Epcot. Do you know a lot of kids that garden?" I said. I got a blank look. So I continued, "What about the Food and Wine Festival each Fall? Kids don't drink the wine do they?"

I just feel a little bit sorry for those people that have locked way their inner child. :rolleyes1 I'm Sorry; I Don't Wanna Growup! :hyper:AND YOU CAN"T MAKE ME!!:bored:

Hubby and I will celebrate our 20th anniversary at Disney this year.:cheer2:

No kids arguing, taking our time in World Showcase, not standing in line for EVERY character's autograph (thank you DD!), eating in restaurants we know the kids would never want to try, and listening to awesome music at Raglan Road, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc!!

Don't get me wrong, I have a great time with my kids, but sometimes you just need to leave them with Grandma.::yes::

I was thinking I would tell them that we were going to the beach; I just wouldn't tell them it would be Blizzard Beach.

Yes, our anniversary will be celebrated with the mouse this year, my hubby just doesn't know it yet!:rotfl:

Well, they clearly have issues anyway. They couldn't understand why someone would go all the way to LA? Because there's absolutely nothing to do there.

Where exactly would they go on vacation?

It takes all sorts, there is a woman on one of the other shifts at work, she thinks holidays are a waste of time any holiday. In fact time off from work is just a waste of time as well. If she can she works 12 hour shifts 7 days a week and then works at 3 different pubs. Its her life but she has already had one car written off at a previous job by falling to sleep at the wheel.
