Not nearly as exciting as Suburbanmoms Full Frame purchase, but I am really excited to finally get this lens!!! I pick it up tomorrow. I found it locally and it still has some warranty left on it, which makes me happy knowing that if something is wrong I can go to Pentax and not the seller.

I'm STOKED! Now I have to sell off all this other gear I've accumulated...

My kit is now going to be this...

12-24
18-55 (kit lens)
50-135
50 f1.4
M 200 f4
Tamron 18-250
and Vivitar Macro 100

everything else is going the way of the dodo!

Now I'll just need to pick up a 16-50 f2.8 to be complete... and maybe an FA 77 f1.4... oh and maybe a DA 200 f2.8!!! I guess there is always more to buy... darn it now I'm depressed I thought this lens was going to complete my kit... :scared1:

my next investment will be in some kind of photography group so I can finally stop using Auto.....

lol.....

:)

Can I tell you that I'm green with envy? Enjoy it!

What equipment are you selling? Just curious!

I should have added that I'm looking for a 55-300 mm kit lens to replace my 55-200. I just want that zoom!

First couple shots I have gotten to take with it, no borders, just run through LR# to convert to JPEG with slight alterations to give it some colour from the DNG file...

I'm heading out to play some pool, and am going to see what I can do indoors with it.

first is one of my buddy (first image I took)

Congrats! It's a beaut, isn't it? :thumbsup2 The 50-135mm was my first DA* lens... before long, I just had to have the 16-50... and of course I'd like the 200mm F2.8 and 300mm F4... :rotfl2:

Hmm, looking over that list, it seems like there's something missing... it's just a FISHy feeling, but I still have that feeling... ;) :lmao:

I would like that make that trade, too!

I haven't picked up a decent lens in probably a year now... and between the K-5, Christmas, and the last Disney trip, our finances are on lockdown so it'll probably be a while. But, I can still think about it!

Ya I'm thinking if I get the 16-50, I can dump the 12-24, that will give me more than enough for the Sigma 8-16, and or the DA 10-17 Fisheye... but wow this lens is truly above my ability...

Daisy:
Sorry to hijack your thread but do you know the difference between the PENTAX smc DA 55-300mm F4-5.8 ED and the Pentax smc DA L?

This is what a google search told me: IQ is similar between the DA & DAL. However the DAL version does not have Quick Shift, distance markings on the focus ring, no lens hood (you have to buy one separately) and the lens mount is in plastic, not metal.

So, after reading it, I'm thinking the DA L is okay as a lens for a mom with a camera??? Thoughts?

Although, I'd love to have the f2.8 version of the 50-200mm it's not in the budget right now.

Thanks.

Michelle

The "L" stands for lightweight - it's lighter and has the features you mentioned cut out to lower the price. Obviously I would prefer the non-L, but if I found a particularly good deal on the L version, I'd be fine with it. I would pick up a lens hood for it, though!

L for lightweight. That makes sense and for me is a good thing. It must be the lens that comes in the kit when you purchase the two lens kit. Am I correct? Is Quick Shift important?

I want it for vacation for outside shows in Disney. I've heard the image quality is better than my 50-200 mm.
