I was thinking I would do this for my girls memory box. About how many do you from each park? I also want to know how many rolls of pennies I will need. We are doing all of the disney parks

I found this link a little while ago on another thread about the pennies

I am just going to take a m&m tube, layered with 2 quarters 1 penny, full and when I run out...I run out.

We did some while we were there last year. There's a very extensive list of all the machines:

http://www.parkpennies.com/wdwwaltdisneyworld/wdwpennies.htm

But unless you plan to put aside some significant ride time, I'd only pick a few machines and be pleasantly surprised as you stumble across machines during the day. Epcot had a lot, and each resort had some.

We loaded a m&m minis tube with quarter - quarter - penny, so that they'd be ready to load into the machine. Know that the loaded coin tube won't pass through security - they'll likely want to inspect it due to the metals (we failed coming and going :) )

Also, I believe (someone may correct me here) that the pennies BEFORE 1980 maintain their copper color once smushed; however newer pennies will tend to have a smudged effect to the mix of metals.

Lastly, if you want to clean a pile of pennies, let them soak about 24 hours in lemon juice in a bowl, stirring occasionally to get the juice all over. When you rinse them they'll be shiny as new.

Enjoy!

Another great website is

www.presscoins.com

it's the unofficial pressed penny site for Disney. They have a checklist of where all the coins are and where they are located. There is NO WAY you can get to them all.

We did this last year and just did the ones that we ran across. The kids especially loved the ones that they can crank on their own.

I tried cleaning pre-1980 pennies with about 3 different methods and they weren't that "pretty". I much prefer the shiny new pennies, and I though they came out much crisper and cleaner than the older ones. I plan on getting a roll of pennies before our next trip and layering with quarters in the M&M tubes. I also bring an empty tube for the already pressed pennies...

We let DD do the whole world showcase (hit the show by the international gateway for the missing 2) and then she does a couple of her favorite rides/shows. She is on her 2nd book and loves this kind of souvenir!

We used 2 m&m tubes layered with 2 quarters and a penny. It seemed like we did a lot and didn't run out. You can usually find them in the gift shops of most rides. There were a lot of machines with 3 characters each at the Contemporary by the elevators. We also tried to get all of the ones in World Showcase. My girls loved them and always wanted to stop. They were a big hit with them this trip.

Just a note: I carried my m&m containers in my carry on and had to wait for a more thorough bag search at the airport. I guess the quarters need to go thru the xray separately. I didn't know that and it slowed us down a little.
