Penny Pinching Mickey Style!

Am I the only WIFE who pays for everything?:rotfl:

I am also selling stuff on 'buy and sell' sites on Facebook. I got fed up with Ebay and the fees they charge. Apart from teaching, I have also started up a business making cakes.

Small sacrifices/ savings mean that we will be able to book after Christmas for 2015.:cool1:

I love hearing everyones ideas and how they save their Disney spends,

I have put loads on ebay, but i too get fed up of the fees. Am still breast feeding my yougest so a bootfair isnt an option for me unfortunately.

I have about 8 black sacks full of girls clothes, after 3 girls we had a boy and i am now free to get rid of all the girlie bits. No more babies for us. 4 is more than enough lol!

Am putting stuff on facebook also, trying to cut out the fees on some items.

I sold a load of old stuff on EBay and even sold old clothes on Music Magpie. All of the proceeds of that went into the Disney fund! At the moment; I am just putting any change I might get hold of into a money box. Change is fairly rare for me, as I tend to use my debit card for all purchases instead of cash. In about 6 months, I have raised £80, which will be my airport spends! Otherwise I am very disciplined and have been saving a target amount each month!

Snap!

In order for me and my boyfriend to go next year we have to be so disciplined to be able to afford it. We both have a standing order set up every week/month when we get paid, nothing more satisfying that watching it get bigger every week :-) we also have the change jar and I'm just looking for one of them gigantic coke bottles just purely for £1's

I have a wee ceramic pig, which is similar to a terramundi but has a wee hole in the bottom that I can open and get the cash out so I can use it again.

I put all silver coins in there that I have in my purse on a Friday afternoon, any £1 that I get during the week automatically go in there.

I've got a silver cardboard box which I sealed up with masking tape which is for all copper coins and the same thing applies, I empty my purse on a Friday night and it goes in there.
!

I might adopt this approach! My purse is always full of change I never use, if I empty it every Friday it might start adding up towards our 2014 WDW trip! If we can decide on dates... It might be 2015 at this rate. But it would be nice to be able to keep saving all my change and then use it completely to pay for WDW! Won't feel like Im taking money away that could go towards our next mortgage deposit!

What an excellent Idea! I'll have to get myself some extra tins!

Great idea's.

My two pence worth...
We use card for everything so rarely have change.

Did a car boot other week still half intoxicated when I woke at 5am, and made a whopping £27 after paying my stall. Wasn't too pleased but every little helps I suppose.

We're frantically pushing £300 a month out my wage for spendos but its hard going.
And not long left which is very exciting !!!!!:)

Trying to save on food shop n tighten up on direct debits and keep petrol costs down.um a real tight **** !

My next thing must be to eBay some of the better stuff I can find, and to gut the kids bedrooms of junk I paid a fortune for from toys r us n hardly gets played wit :) nasty dad.
Ps mum always keeps an eye on dad(me) doing these jobs ha ha

I prefer eBay. I find I get more when I put it in ebay then when I use those face book groups. We have made nearly £500 in about 6 weeks on eBay. Which is great cant do that all the time though or we will have nothing left lol.

No I also pay for ALL our holidays and most of the household bills as well. I guess DH is lucky he married a woman to keep him in the lifestyle he has certainly become accustom to LOL!!!

Just counted our money out, as follows:

Brandy jar with coins from 50p down = £35.00 (6p short!)
Terramundi pot with £1 & £2 = £248 (no where near full, saving since March)

So that will do nicely for breakfast at the airport and some duty free spending (DD wants some sunglasses, Ray Bans probably!)

:cool1::cool1:

Oh and DS guessed the closest amount (£275) so he gets £10 out of it for himself!

Looks like we are both 'sugar-mummies'

I need to use some of these ideas to save some extra. At the minute I can only save £150 a month because I'm doing an apprenticeship but in march my wage doubles so I'm going to pretend I'm not getting the extra and just save it so ill be saving about £500 a month until I finish it in August next year. Hopefully i get a job when i finish otherwise all those savings will go on living expenses rather than Disney :(

Disney Is definitely worth sacrificing things for!

Over the weekend I got an old shoe box & duck taped the lid shut the cut a small hole for coins to go in towards my WDW trip!

BF wants to go elsewhere next year for 'our' holiday so it's looking like it'll be 2015 for our next return to the world! So I'm going to see if I can get a 'free' trip by adding all my change into the box every night.

I'm also going to add any money left over from my monthly spends budget to it! We each allow ourselves £400 'play' money for whatever we want that month like going out, new clothes etc but now were heading into winter well be spending most our time indoors. I usually have £50-70 a month left at the end so ill make sure that goes in. But I'm also going to see if I can penny pinch any other money into it! All our other money is going towards saving for our next deposit & bills so I don't want to take anything from that but this way it will feel like it's a 'free' trip as I won't notice it's gone! I'm hoping to be going in the next 2 years again so I've worked out ill need £2750 by then which doesn't include spends (that can come out of salary as normal) so I need to be putting about £115 a month away for the next 24 months which ill hopefully be able to do!

I've worked out £2750 as follows;

7 nights SSR or OKW studio is £1100 for the week in August at the minute, I've allowed £1200 with inflation! Hopefully free dining & gift card will be available that year too.

Flights - £500 each MAN to MCO, £1000 total.

Tickets - £278 each, £556 total.

Spends etc will be separate.

Ill be making my own sandwiches for lunch from now on! Every penny counts to get back to Mickey!

Any tips? How do you guys pinch your way to the mouse?

I am currently Ebaying - ALOT!

But am waiting for do the big stuff when its free listing weekends. Nothin worse than paying for listing when stuff doesnt sell. Bad enough you lose so much out of the selling price anyway.

Also Facebooking stuff.

Old/unwanted/broken gold is sometimes a winner.

After 3 girls I finally got a boy so any now selling ALL of my Girlie/pink stuff. I am ebaying all the named stuff. May muster a Bootfair at some point before we go, we travel in December.

Quidco - ing EVERYTHING. at the moment and putting the "saved money" into my pot.

Right then the best way to do this is via games and dvd's .

Use CEX as your port of call for obtaining what the value of whatever it is you may be selling.

CEX will be what you use to sell them on or be a base price for how much the market rate is.

The next thing to do is trawl sites such as GAME, Play.com and Amazon and try to catch there deals.

I brought a game called Skyrim for £22.49 from Amazon sold it to CEX for £28 so there is profit to be made!

Quidco! I've heard so much about it but never actually used it!

I must go and look into that and start 'banking' those savings too! Great idea.

We saved £187 of our disney booking using them. Kids school uniform was ordered online instead of instore and then got a tenner or so. It all adds up.

Just counted up the "change pot" and there is £30 in there in odds and sods. Not bad considering its all small change. Which means only £70 to go for my PP+ Havent added my ebay stuff to it yeat, or the £10 from something I sold facebook, so is ticking away nicely :thumbsup2

We did a carboot on Sunday ... made a whole £9.70 profit

We changed all our coppers and £2 coins we've been saving today. Came to just under £300 which was $440
