Pennsylvania: Sight & Sound Theater. The play, Ruth.

Has anyone seen this play? We live in Michigan, and wondering if a trip to this area to see the play, and Amish area would be worth the miles? Any hotel recommendations? Thanks for any help.

I haven't seen Ruth but i have seen the Chrsitmas story & Noah. They were wonderful. I'm sure you won't regret going.

I have heard wonderful things about the Steamboat Inn & have always wanted to stay there.

I live in Amish Country. I have never been to that theater though, lol, but I hear wonderful things about it.

For hotels, I would recommend Country Inn and Suites or Willow Valley.

My parents love that place and have been several times and are going back. If you think it would interest you, I say go!

I've seen Noah and it was amazing. I plan to buy tickets for their new show "The Beginning" (opens spring 2007) as soon as I can. I would say go, I don't think you'll be disappointed. I would also recommend staying at Willow Valley.

I saw "Noah" and was very impressed. Since you're interested in the Amish I would also recommend "Amish Vows in Paradise" at the Freedom Chapel Dinner Theatre. The owner of the theatre, Dollie wrote the play. She consulted several of her Amish friends about the story. It is about a traditional Amish wedding. I'm sure Dollie would be happy to recommend some other not to miss attractions. I recently saw their production of "Bus Stop." It was my first time at the theater but I do plan to visit again. Dollie and her husband are very nice and willing to answer any questions you have about the area. They also offer underground railroad tours. There is a trap door to an underground passage in the rear of the theatre. The theatre's website is: freedomchapeldinnertheatre.com Another great place to visit is the National Christmas Museum. I had driven by it many times but never stopped. Dollie recommended it and it was amazing.

There is a Holiday Inn Express located at the Rockvale Square Outlets. They have a nice continental breakfast and are located within a few miles of Sight and Sound Theatre.

SIght and Sound is very well known in the area I grew up in... sigh... how I miss it! I have a friend in the company

Thank you all for some good information. I am trying to do a price for two by car on the entire trip. I am checking out your recommended hotel prices. I have an opportunity to go on a bus tour there (leaving from my Mom's state, Kentucky) in the fall. It seems to be the better price with more included for the money. I was hoping to go sooner with DH, but it looks expensive by car.
